I can’t say because as a coach he should be able to enjoy the announcement without another coach ruining it for him. He’s probably talking to the kids he was planning on recruiting this fall to let him know he’s moving to UM.

Honestly I don’t know why HR is taking forever to do their job and get him on board. Hopefully we get an announcement tomorrow but who knows when HR will get done, fingers crossed Athletics is staying on those folks so the new coach can start recruiting for the Griz.
Y’all are right about this looking bad that they’ve dragged this process out.
Wish the athletics dept would drop an announcement that news is coming to let the community know they have a coach and will let the public know soon.
 
Father of one of the girls transferred not to WSU. Facilities are so much better outside of Montana. The team she went to is full and will be very competitive. She looks to be a starter on a team on par with Montanas from last year. She only sniffed the field under Chris. She misses her old teammates but everything else has been better at the new school. She said she would never go back having seen what it is like at another school.

Couldn’t help but remember one of my posts from earlier this year calling for Abby Smith to get more play time. Hope everyone thrives at their new homes.

Unfortunately- this aligns with what my daughter is hearing from the friends who transferred to WSU. They are gobsmacked to find out they can just ask for & receive new Nike cleats/gear, eat free dietician-approved meals at an athletes-only dining hall, have dedicated indoor facilities, weight rooms & trainers they don’t share with another sport (football), etc.
It is actually amazing the success that Chris & his teams achieved with so little financial support from the university.

That said, UM is still a very attractive school for quality players looking to have the “full college experience” in a beautiful town, with a great fan base, and have a realistic chance of seeing the field.

Hopefully the new coach will be able to recruit based on these factors and also fight for additional resources. Rome wasn’t built in a day - but the foundation for success is still there with the right coach & administration support.

Now can we just find out who that will be?

This is not an HR issue something else is in play at this point in the process, Let Coach J have the team. Good coach and understanding is he was the main recruiter past few years.

UM is stuck in the 20th century with the way they do a lot of their admin stuff (time cards submitted on paper, interview questions on paper). Those are issues Seth should fix!

If Kent really cared about his pick he would have gotten his staff stay on top of things.

UM athletics needs some serious new blood, need to stop hiring staff based on Montana on their birth certificate or married to right person. Look at the staff directory and read their bios and there are a lot of staff that is under qualified for a D1 school.

I hope that announcement wasn’t supposed to be Cavallo. UMSL countered with a significant raise and he confirmed he is staying-put there.

The offer/counteroffer process could have been what slowed down any announcement. (Assuming UM did offer him the job).

Are the other two candidates still in the mix or is UM reopening the coaching search?

I’ve been told that all three candidates turned down the job. I think Admin forgot that they also needed to make the job enticing.

Not being realistic and telling candidates, they expect the Griz to be right back on top of the big sky without acknowledging. It’s going to take time likely shot them in the foot.

I’m sure the candidates saw how Little support Chris had even with having so much success, who would want to take that on with such a rebuild need needing to happen?

Someone needs to put pressure on the AD if that’s even possible. Kyle Hansen can leak the story. Let coach J have the opportunity, he’s in Seattle this weekend and in Canada next weekend recruiting.

Program will be fine There are 1800 plus girls in the portal and another round will enter in May. There are a lot of good players still unsigned just need to look.

Yeah… I mean if all three candidates declined the role I am 100% okay rolling with J even for the interim (calendar year). This is getting ridiculous.
 
Wow I am so embarrassed for the university at this point. I liked Haslam, but I think I will apply when he moves on. I also think this story should be leaked. Embarrass them a bit, f#@%ing morons.

I toured the Lady Griz locker room project on Tuesday. It is going to be a great facility. But completion has been pushed into February. No fixtures installed yet, nor flooring. Lockers should be installed next week. Once completed, work will start to upgrade the old LG locker room to be used by Volleyball.

The WAG floor will be replaced with a new floor, not just resurfaced. This will be done at the same time a basketball floor is installed in the East Gym.

Yes, that’s what is being leaked that the AD didn’t want to agree to terms financially, contract length and facility upgrades with his top candidates. Someone within the know needs to get to the bottom of this.
