regardless who is picked if they can’t start paying people more we’ll lose another coach sooner than later. If the new coach gets the $100k, his take home will be $74,184/annually after taxes but before 401k contributions, etc.
If that’s the best they can pay a HC it’s only worse for the support staff. Our Athletic Trainers pay is a joke for folks with a masters / medical license and Facilities staff being paid hourly.

Ok enough of this who the committee recommended shit. Haslam I assume has likely informed somebody on the committee of his decision. So does anybody know who Haslam hired? Word has to have gotten around to somebody by now.

It is an awful look, with how the program was dismantled the administration needed to expedite the hire, it's been more than a month...in no way would a FB or BB hire take more than a month. This hire needed to happen two weeks ago regardless of who the choice is.
So apparently somebody is recruiting right now cause we got this transfer from UC San Diego. Must be J? Regardless, it’d be nice if they would just name a coach so we could get on with it!

Thank goodness! It has been hard waiting & also then seeing all of the UM players get promos on WSU social media sites over the last 24 hours when we don’t have a coach named. can’t believe nobody has noticed yet they are all former Griz!

It says from Montana on all the girl's posts. It wasn't secret that they were going to WSU. What do you want to happen?

The sad truth is that these splashy social media posts are super-important to players and recruits these days. I’m happy UM got a transfer & posted it. I just hope the next one is a coaching announcement.
Geez-nothing. Just saying I’m surprised there hasn’t been any negative pushback from WSU fans/parents when they see that half the Cougar team is now Chris’ former UM players. Remember Shulenberger only took 5 to Ole Miss from WSUs roster.

But 15 girls from WSU went into the portal before Chris even took the job. WSU is probably happy he was able to fill the spots.

Why would WSU fans/parents pushback? Doubt they’d prefer being in the same position we’re in now and having to cancel spring games due to not enough healthy players (several of the WSU girls who stayed are injured currently.)
With as demolished as the WSU roster was with 15 girls in the portal, who knows if Chris would have even taken the position if so many girls wouldn’t have been open to following him.
Admin at UM knew about the possibility of losing him when Hansen leaked the info. They should have been ready to start the hiring process way earlier than they were. At this point if they haven’t made a hire they should make j interim since he’s actively recruiting still…

Thank goodness, the hint of light at the end of this dark tunnel. This is the first good news we've heard since the tourney. Its been a dark winter but this commitment reminds me that the program will live on and hopefully return to the top.

Something behind the scenes must be going on, it's now Thursday with no announcement, it shouldn't take this long when you have 3 candidates and last interview was last Friday, maybe all three candidates said no.
I believe a candidate has been picked. I wasn’t told who but I believe Max. The candidate is reaching out to club coaches of recruits to gauge their interest in staying at UM. And if he can save some of the 2026 class. How many recruits followed Chris ? There must be a rule that limits conversion until hired.

Why do you believe it's Max and how do you know if someone is calling club coaches. If any of players going to WSU already signed how hard would it be to flip back?

It’s not hard for them to come back but at this point they’ll have to wait out this semester and transfer back.
If they’re in the transfer portal and want to come back they have to ask the coach if the coach says yes than they go to compliance and have their name withdrawn from the portal.
The only coach currently on campus is Coach J.
The players that have signed with WSU aren't coming back. They are trying to save the existing players and the freshman coming in. Players still can leave in the next portal if they don't like the new coach. They can't afford to lose anyone else. And you don't want to just offer scholarships just because you need players.

Agree, players that signed including freshman and have been announced at WSU are not coming back. If this is all true it still doesn't make sense why no official announcement has been made, make the announcement. Once the announcement is made and people know about it you may get more players inquiring as they know who the coach is.

A coach has been selected, just waiting on HR to do their job! Once they do the AD will announce the guy.
Care to share with us who it is? Also is this coach out actively recruiting right now and putting together a team for next year?
