When you say “new Lady Griz locker room” do you mean the soccer locker rooms? Or basketball?

Women’s Basketball. Soccer did some cosmetic stuff to their locker room but the facility as a whole looks like something from Rudy.

What’s concerning is if the non revenue generating sports coaches make so little (compared to the cost of living in Missoula) what about the support staff?! How are the Griz going to keep their Athletic Trainers if they too can’t afford to live in Missoula.
Their job requires long hours from the early morning lifts to the evening practices. So their commute needs to be relatively short so they can be there for the players whenever they need treatments.
Soccers current AT knows her stuff, she was a D3 head AT before moving out here. Losing her would be a blow to the program.

Johnson, Smith, Stendera, and Anderson had all announced their commitments so they are definitely are not currently in the portal. And which ever players have signed contracts with WSU would be no longer in the portal too.

I wonder if Bayliss is now staying since Dvorak is leaving for WSU.

In October, she told the team she was leaving after spring (when she graduates) because there isn’t a graduate program at UM she wants to pursue.

But could have just been saving face.

Turning Montana into a top 25 women’s college program would be unbelievable… it can happen. Vermont won it on the men’s side last year. Marshall won it 5 years ago.

I’d rather hire someone who will come in and take us closer/get us to that mark and continue what Chris has done… compared to hiring a Montanan just because they won’t leave us.

Let’s find a coach who could become an NWSL coach/assistant in the future. Big time upside.

The program has been a Big Sky power with multiple coaches and it will again (although Chris's perennial success hadn't been seen since the late 90's), it will just take a couple of years because of what happened. Let's hope we aren't hosting the conference tournament next fall and not playing in it.

Doubtful this next year. Currently they will barely have enough girls to compete in spring games.
It will be a rebuild this year. Transfer portal will help in the spring but will take time to gel as a team. Combine that with Utah tech and SUU joining qualifying will be very difficult.
My expectations for the top 6 will be in order-
Utah tech
Weber
NAU
Idaho
Portland State
Eastern Washington
I could see the big sky expanding to 8 possibly with the expanded league. If that were to happen I think northern Colorado and Idaho state are still ahead of Montana. My prediction is 1 win and 1 tie for conference. Bottom of the league will be SUU and Montana.
