for any of you who've watched the nba rookie league games, you know how much the announcers love matthew dellavedova out of st. mary's via australia. i do too; i saw many of his college games on tv, including some epic battles against gonzaga. the kid can shoot. he's a tenacious defender. plays hard. undrafted out college, he won a spot on the cavalier roster by having the same kind of impressive run in las vegas that cherry is having this year. and it's understood: unless there are contract issues, dellavedova is the backup to kyrie irving. cherry is a longshot to make the team.
alright. but let's look at some numbers here, over three games.
points: dellavedova 39, cherry 34. but since dellavedova has played 97 minutes to 63 for cherry, it means cherry is scoring a point every 1.87 minutes, versus 2.48 minutes for dellavedova.
shooting percentage: from the field, dellavdova has shot a combined ten of 23, or 43.4%; cherry, 14 of 25 for 56%. from three, dellavedova is 3 of 11 for 27%, cherry three of eight for 37.5%
free throws: strong advantage to dellavedova, 12 of 15 for 80%; will 3 of 6, 50%.

assists: dellavedova 14, will 6. per minute: dellavedova one every seven minutes, will one every 10.5 minutes....BUT
trunovers: dellavedova 12, will one. assist to turnover ration: dellavedova 1.17 to one; will, six to one. a good assist to turnover ratio is three to one; chris paul is close to four. 1.17 for dellavedova is terrible; will is off the charts. okay, dellavedova has more time in which to make a turnover: for him, one turnover every eight minutes; will one for every 63 minutes!
