Cherry to Lithuania

Well, good luck to Will. I'm sorry he has to venture so far afield to play professional basketball, but anyway he is still playing.

Will Cherry's first televised interview as a member of the Lithuanian BC Zalgiris Kaunas professional basketball team. Didn't even get a chance to take off his backpack!

Will Cherry saw his first game action with his new Lithuanian EuroLeague Pro team, B C Zalgiris, scoring nine points, notching 7 steals and grabbing 7 rebounds in an 89-73 win on Dec. 21.

Not certain of the structure of his team's competition, but it looks like they play in two leagues -- a Lithuanian league and then in a broader EuroLeague competition, where the goal is to qualify as a top-16 team to advance to post-season playoffs later in the year.

Seems like a decent debut for Will, since he's been with his new team barely over a week so far.

One of the top European teams, with a long basketball history. I've heard they have a pretty fanatical fan base.

Baltic women aren't too hard on the eyes, either. There's always a silver lining! :D

i think will, like micheal ray, could make a beautiful, lucrative career for himself playing international basketball. my questions are, is there a route back to the nba, and is this the best one.

If he is not under a contract he will still be eligible to be invited to play on a summer league team. From there it will be basically the same thing as this past year. Try to impress and hope to get an invite for fall camp.

I think this was a good way to go, make some money while he can and still not give up the NBA dream.
