One doesn't have to be a friend to be a fan. One doesn't have to be the same age (generation) to be a fan. One doesn't have to be the same gender to be a fan. A team doesn't have to win a championship every season to be a long time fan. A fan doesn't have to live in Montana to be a Griz fan nor be an alum.

It is an unwavering, loyal and emotional investment. A fan supports the school & FB team through "thick & thin". It means shared experiences, clothing, rituals and social fan boards like Egriz. Winning helps to reinforce this investment. Extreme highs and lows are experienced by most long term fans.

This. I read a lot of college football message boards and most if not all of them are moderated in a way that does not stifle differing opinions but instead weeds out the people who are intentionally trying to cause issues, start arguments, etc. eGriz is essentially a lawless free for all. I’d for cleaning it up a bit and making the overall experience more enjoyable instead of letting a few posters act like they rule the roost and constantly call people stupid. It’s the way the big schools boards do it and those places have ALOT more active members than this place.

Maybe I’ll create a username called EverettBub and lobby to clean up this place.

I could drip with snobbery and sarcasm with every post I make on here, while adding nothing at all about football discussion. I could cry in my beer about those mean bub fans over the hill and their classless anti griz chant. How do those people kiss their mothers with those mouths after saying such things?

I could point a few things out to remind the griz fans what the past attitude was.

Did the griz actually win a NC back in the olden days? Supposedly they did, but that was 25 years ago. Did anyone alive today actually witness that? Did the players wear leather helmets or face masks? It was before cameras, so I am not sure that there is even documentation, and I am skeptical. That was IAA and not FCS so I am not sure if it really counts, does it? Does any of this sound familiar to you Everett?

Remember the narrative of how griz fans would never tolerate mediocrity like those losers over in Bozeman? Hopefully, some of you will have some self-awareness about getting a bite of the shit sandwich you’ve been dishing for years. But I doubt it.

You're actually 100% correct.

However.

We've been hearing various riffs of "our school is a JUCO", "we support rape", "our fans are all Wal-Mart fans", "we're all arrogant and dUMb", "our championships were a million years ago", "UM needs to be shut down", and on and on since about... 2012.

All delivered with plenty of sarcasm, snobbery, and every other type of derision and hate you can think of. This toxicity has been a very two-way thing for a very long time.

And the chant is garbage. I support my kids rooting for the Bobcats 100%. Minus the chants, and they know that. Ridiculous that a school would embrace something like that. But I don't see it going away, it's too entrenched, so we have no choice but to get used to it.

Since when is 13-2. being the # 3 FCS team in the country, and having the FCS Scholar Athlete of The Year, The 2025 Dorris Robinson Award winner Dillon Botner, who is on his way to medical school, " mediocrity ? "

I think we will pass on eating an excrement sandwich, but that is obviously an issue for MSDUI and their fans as they seem to be obsessed with eating poop 🙄 : ( !!!

Agree with alot, though I do love the chant during Cat/griz.

If we're calling out those things you reference, realistically the post above me with the MSdui should be included. And lets include the litterbox, and shitpond. You forgot school of dance too.

The obvious difference for those paying attention, is that those terms would NEVER and I mean truly NEVVVVERRRR be allowed on bcn. So why is it okay for bubs to use the derogatory things Silenz mentions here? That's, uhh, kind of the entire point.
