Have to agree with your response GG75 - we have no reference to see if the next DC is better/worse/same at this point. I'm going to miss Ty and his passion - which is near impossible to replace, but it's not like he's the only DC out there that can get the job done.

TG = Traitor. Dead to me.

Meh, it's a business... I'm upset about it but I'll get over it. Breske coaches at Idaho who was/is an equally bitter rival and it doesn't phase me that much. Ty was a great guy for the program and I hope he does well... except when he coaches against the Griz.

MSU's first game next fall is against Idaho

Or how programs are run and scholarships doled out. Every school evaluates scholarship athletes every season. Nothing is guaranteed to anyone.
As I "attempted" to point out on another thread, this is wrong, and currently among one of the most volatile controversies in college sports. Several schools do now offer four year scholarships; precisely to out-recruit schools that recruit and then cut promising athletes because of coaching "changes" that have nothing to do with the competitor's abilities. The kids want protection from that.

The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), Big Ten Conference (B1G), Big 12 Conference, Pacific-12 Conference (Pac-12), and Southeastern Conference (SEC), all now offer four year schollies. "Between 2002-2011, 99.3% of the top 100 football recruits in the nation chose teams in the power conferences. Historically, over 90% of football teams that finish in the top 25 rankings and over 90% of the basketball teams that make it to the Final Four are from the power conferences."

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/writer/jon-solomon/24711067/schools-can-give-out-4-year-scholarships-to-athletes-but-many-dont

There are a lot of differences. Keep in mind that FBS schools cannot split scholarships either. It is 100% or nothing.

We haven't had a good defense since 2002. Enjoy our hand me downs, you guys will be worse next year and that's really saying something

Alright the almighty AG, I will throw down on this. What's the bet? I will bet you we are much improved in several defensive categories and as a defensive team. Let's talk, PM me. I will throw down a good bet on this.

Wow, this is kind of Huge, unexpected news. The Bobcats instantly get better on D and this does hurt the Griz, I don't care how you spin it, this hurts the Griz.

I agree.

Really??? You were that impressed with Ty, huh??? Good guy, related well with the players and good motivator, but not at all a spectacular scheme guy by any notion. Drove me and a lot of fans nuts at times with his vulnerability on first drives, 3rd and longs, and trick plays. Poly had his # every year. And I don't know how you can argue against the talent we've had on D the last few years. Solid coach, not a irreplaceable by any means.

I think he was a lot better than he is getting credit for, and I'm not even a big fan of the Griz. The Griz consistently fielded a top 3 or 4 defense in the conference when he was a DC, last years Griz D was really good, this years was good not great but they kept the Griz in a ton of games. Its funny how everyone is getting on TG as if everything was his fault when the majority of the problems the Griz had this year were on O, not D.

This will be a tough loss for the Griz and it may result in more than just TG if any recruits and or position coaches follow suit.

A good D in this conference isn't much to be proud of. Like mentioned already, Griz were like 32 and 56 in defense when looking at the fcs landscape. After watching ndsu and uni, that is what a defense is. Griz and everyone else in the big sigh is light years behind those defenses. Those defenses with championships, just ask the bison after they get their 5th in a row.

And as you will notice....it is the Big 5 conferences that do it....the big boys with the cash....you don't see the MVC or the equivalent to the BSC doing it...
You "will notice" that I referred to them as the "power conferences," specifically identified the Big Five by name, and then, just to make matters worse, I didn't include the MVC or the "equivalent to the BSC" in my list. This really is tough for you isn't it? Like your other problem, I could not have been more specific, and you could not be more disingenuous in trying to pretend I said something other than what I actually said. Perfect example.

can you not read....you were comparing what Montana does to what the Power 5 do....how about comparing them to what equivalent conferences do.....seriously...all you do is either make shit up of twist other people's words just so you can argue....

There you go. You can't pass up a single post without finally sucumbing to an outright lie. I was commenting on a post that said "all schools" evaluate scholarships on an annual basis. I pointed out that many schools are offering four year scholarships and that the comment was false about "all" schools, and that the whole subject is one of the current biggest controversies in the NCAA.

I did not mention "Montana" at all, and my response was clearly directed at the comment "all schools." Not a single word about "Montana" there.

Yet another perfect example of you fabricating something I said to try and generate a controversy where the actual words show that none exists. You make shit up. And the mods don't seem to be able to do anything about it.

Man..... You should hope you would be better in "several defensive categories and as a defensive team". Kind of like getting to the bottom of the ocean. Only one way left to go???

but you implied that Montana is recruiting against all these schools that do offer them.....if that was not the intent...why even post that some schools offer them....just for shits and giggles....what a turd...

December 13, 2015:

Griz fans: " We have a great defense, We love our coach"
Cat fans: " You have better players, they make your coaches look good"

December 14, 2015:

Griz fans: "Gregorak is average, he had great players"
Cat fans: "We will automatically be better, he is a good coach. I like this hire."

The poster said "all schools" offer one year schollies. I pointed out that is false, that many schools now offer four year scholarships, that it is currently a controversial item, and that it is in, fact, becoming a recruiting tool for college football, and cited to an article that did not once mention Montana.

Now, read your comment and explain why you invariably need to pipe up and say I actually "implied" something that I didn't say. WTF is the matter with you? Are you an actual adult?

Even the most brilliant defensive coach will have poor team defense statistics when paired with Stitt's offense. His fast paced style of offense means the other team gets a lot of offensive plays too. In this offense it is either 3 and out or a quick score. Either way the defense is on the field a lot.

Heard the same thing during Pflu's first year from the village people....

Breske had that defense rolling in the second year...

It takes time to get totally new systems in place...

BTW...Do I get paid per ellipsis...?

75....in the discussion about Montana cutting players based on 1 year scholarships.....and someone stating that many schools do it....why would you then point to Power 5 schools to rebut his argument.....and just so you know....the big schools have ways to get around the 4 year athletic scholarship....and it does still happen at these schools...

Some people's demonstration of stellar...is...well....less than stellar....

Just curious, do you get paid for each ellipsis you use? :?

Throwing those fancy words around pretty freely lately, did you get one of those "Word of the Day" calendars or are you reading something more educational than the bullshit on here?
