Central Ty Gregorak discussion thread

It looks like the Great Innovator has lost his best coach to the enemy....hmmm, maybe Ty he's sees the handwriting on the wall.....bottom line he's not going to work for a DII coach with a smart ass attitude. He must be wanting to try his luck at a FBS gig in a couple of years.....Choate looks like a pretty sure bet. Not to worry egriz.....you still got PR & Hammer, Ty's biggest paramours!!!

So he decided to coach for a D2 program instead??

How bad is this place going to freak out when Ty recruits former Griz players to MSU defensive position coaches?

Like who is in his iPhone contacts? Let's see.... ALL FORMER GRIZ PLAYERS.

Long-hair for our D-Line coach? We'll take him.

For the record....a former Griz was a defensive position coach in Bozo before...not sure I heard anyone speak negatively about him....

Whatever.

I know nothing of the specifics of the situation but if any of the comments on here are accurate then it is reasonable to assume some of the following may have prompted this change;

A) As a new coach Stitt was obligated to retain Ty for some continuity. He may want his own guy.
B) If there was tension (likely) then each may have been wanting a change anyway.
C) Ty's wife just got a job in Bozeman. This could explain his jumping over to little brother.
D) Coach Choate needs huge instant help. Finding a decent D coach with Big Sky experience is huge.
E) Despite the talk, Choate doesn't have MT connections (beyond playing at Western). Ty does.
F) Cat's defense was worst in the nation. IF TY DOES ANYTHING HE WILL LOOK GOLDEN.
G) Ty probably got a pay raise and a great resume builder showing he can turn a defense around.

Gregorak did a good job in Missoula and always had a decent defense. On the other hand he also had some exceptional talent. With this he consistently fielded a good defense but not a great one. I hope he does well in Bozeman. I expect he will make their D respectable again. This will help him if he wants to climb the coaching ladder.

Ty is a good coach and I'm sorry to see him go, especially to Bozeman. Yet as I began this post, "Whatever".
I think what I'll miss most is the guy's passion on the sidelines. I'm confident we will find another defensive coordinator who can take the talent on the Grizzlies sideline and field a solid defense.

I like your post other than that part. Not true. Has connections from Sidney to Kalispell and everywhere in between. Know that for a fact. Also, helped recruited Matt Miller to Boise State and Will Dissly to the Huskies. Knows the state well.

Like the Universities mentioned had no draw for the recruit, only Choate. Well MSU ain't no UW or BSU.

Didn't TG apply for the HC job when Stitt was hired? Could have had something to do with the friction.

yes he did...and I am sure that did cause some friction...for many reasons....and how the season played out made it even worse....

By definition, this is the epitome of "lil bro" syndrome. There is no way in hell the griz would ever do this. Clearly, the door only swings one way. Lil bro always getting big bro's hand-me-downs. HA HA

I was never a fan of Tie [one on], and always thought that Boulder incident was beyond weird, and a lie. I don't care how many posts PR had spinning those facts, something did not add up. But that's not why I did not like him; his D was too passive, inconsistent and/or sucked against the run. Seems like one year we would be built to stop runs between the tackles but we'd get beat on the edges. Then, the next year we'd have all this "speed" but we'd get run over the top of us.

If I were a cat fan, I'd be very skeptical. Tie was the main speaker for the cat/griz social in butte during delany's last year, and he did most of the talking. The things he said about the cats that night were hilarious. I may even still have this video somewhere.

All I'm saying is that the guy has family in Montana and knows the state. Has recruited it while at Washington and Boise State. That is all. Anyway, we still have a ways to go to re-establish any identity on defense. The Griz have some fantastic, young linebackers coming up and their secondary should be strong next year. Defensive line will needs some work along Kidder. Griz players always play hard anyway so I don't see too big of a drop-off.

I would strongly suggest that you find it and give it to Snap so he can post it under his account on bobcatlandville.

Lil Bro Thread #20+ on eGriz this fall. This one easily gets to 19 pages (the new 17). It's all about 19 now boys.

Wow, this is kind of Huge, unexpected news. The Bobcats instantly get better on D and this does hurt the Griz, I don't care how you spin it, this hurts the Griz.
