.....before i could get back to this board i see that not one, but two gonzaga related threads have been locked! what the hell have you guys been talking about? either way, i noticed that after my last reply about the zags and my experience with them you in turn replied sarcastically. that's fine. i'm not trying to rally the troops to hate gonzaga. in fact, i'm pretty impartial. but don't we all try to base things on personal experiences? when the first thread started i said that that reason i didn't like the zags was because of my experience with few. you can make fun of, or disregard it all you want....it's my opinion. all i was saying is that for as long as few has been around, he has been in contact with many people. on the court or not, people understand what kind of guy he is. i'm not saying he hates children and beats his wife! just saying he doesn't have a very likeable personallity, and seems to look out only for himself. even if it means turning his back on a young man who helped him so much. to put it this way, i don't like few, respect the program, won't root for them because of few! but, i'm not an idiot, and will probably have them winning a game or two in the tourney come march! :beer2:

ha! sorry backer. i just thought this was the place for all zag conversation. afterall there are several threads and hundreds of posts related to gonzaga basketball over here. very few at bobcatnation. although now that you mention it...your teams are similar. except the zags have a prick who can coach, and you guys have a gentle giant who hasn't a clue what the hell he is doing. oh ya...you guys probably have more talent than the zags. but i think the percentage of people who hate both schools is about the same! :msugrad:

You are entitled to your opinion based on personal experience, no doubt. I am entitled to mine based on personal experience, as well.

My personal experience tells me that:

a) Few is most certainly not a jerk
b) Many people want something from him, a camp volunteer, although appreciated, is probably not a high priority when he is being pulled in many directions.
c) I have met many camp volunteers like you who feel as though they have been slighted because they did not get a standing ovation initiated by Few.

If you are not one of those in part "c", then I cannot be held accountable since I am basing my opinion on personal experience much like yourself. If my opinion is wrong, it doesn't matter, right?

first, i wasn't a camp volunteer. my playing days had ended and i was an assistant coach for a man who had been with few his entire career. few invited him and his staff to come help him. second, i personally didn't feel slighted. i have had the opportunity to meet or work with many coaches who few doesn't come close to. guys like bob knight, tubby smith, and lute olsen. trust me, i didn't go away crying about lack of attention from the magnificent mark few. rather i saw first hand how he treated PEOPLE....maybe not me but assistants, managers, parents, former players, and some current players. it's fine you think he's great, just as i think it's fine that i think he treats people like crap. but i'm sure because he is so busy, and being pulled in so many directions, he's allowed to treat people like they are idiots, and he is amazing. :thumb:

Listen, just because you had one bad experience with Few does not him a jerk make. You can think so, but it doesn't. Just because I have had several great experiences talking to Few (and I'm an average Joe in the bball world) does not him a nice guy make. I can think so, but it doesn't.

Example: You like San Francisco; I hate San Francisco. I am not wrong to think so. and neither are you.

All I'm saying is that your opinion, like mine, counts for very little.

In the coaching profession a bad 1st experience with a coach does make a difference to more than one would think. When Pat Kennedy 1st took over at Montana, my friends and I met Pat Kennedy. He acted as if he did not care about Montana fans and could not even as much as say a quick thank you or hi. Shortly thereafter his team stunk, yet we continued to go a few games. In short between my friends and I, we had about a dozen bad negative encounters with PK. To this day, he is the only Montana coach myself, family, and friends stopped supporting. None of us went back to a GRIZ game until LK took over. We would have never been back as long as Kennedy would have been there.

GRIZNATION is fortunate since to have LK and WT be the coach here. Both very fan friendly coaches. Yes, WT has to a few things to learn and grow as a headcoach. However, he is always CLASS and personable. He respects everyone and more importantly his family is valued and class within this community. For those reasons alone, Tinkle has my support.

So what would you say if I told you I met LK two years ago and he was a complete jerk to me? Would that make you change your mind about him? If he were still the coach, do you think you would still think he was a fine ambassador of Griz BBall?

This is my point. Of course my opinion would not mean anything to you or the rest of Griznation since you had heard only great things about LK.

I would respect your opinion either way. AS for PK, we gave him ample chances to better our opinion of him. Not 1 time did he make a positive impression to better the initial one.

The guy that does not like FEW, he is entitled to that opinion. No matter what is said, in his mind he is right and nothing will change it. Just like there is not anything that can be said to change my opinion of PK. This guy should not feel like he should defend his position or be belittled for it. Myself, I found nothing wrong with what he posted. I do not know FEW, but do know people who do, including my nephew and good friend who works for Gonzaga. Their feedback was similar to that posted by the poster that does not like FEW. Take that how you would like. I know it will not change your opinion of him. I am neutral on him myself. I for one am not going to turn another thread into being something that is locked here in trying to prove one point or the other. If need be, I respectfully to agree to disagree with you on any one subject. I hate the threads that turn into post after post of nothing but trash talk and cheapshots.

To this point, this thread has not been ruined. Speaking of ruined threads, "thanks to those who ruined the Gonzaga/Georgia foul thread." I actually was enjoying that thread until it was ruined.

San Francisco sucks; smells like urine. It was just on my mind because I have to go there in March, and I'm dreading it.

I like you ilovethecats. So I will share this trivia. My grandfather is an MSU booster. My father grew up in Bozeman and signed on to play baseball for MSU the year before they cancelled the program. My first BSC football game was at Bobcat Stadium (different name back then) when Weber came to town for homecoming; Earl was the coach; Tesh? was the star WR sidelined by a rib injury. Last year, my 77-year-old grandpa and his 82-year-old brother got Cat tattoos on their right arms. Over the years, I have undoubtedly been to more Cat games than Griz games. When I decided to go to UM, my grandpa did not say much to me for roughly a year. My first BSC basketball game was at the fieldhouse. Dean Willard/Willard Dean, Danny Sprinkle, I know.

In other words, I feel ya :thumb:

In other words, I feel ya :thumb:

well, you still have plenty of time. once you get over the fact that you will probably lose to the worst team in the country in at least one sport every year...being a cat fan is great! :crybaby:
