CATS vs. WEBER

Have to say I'm pretty impressed with the cats right now. That was a great game to watch. They crash the boards, play physical, and bust their asses out there on both ends of the court. Very impressed with their rebounding... Lots of blocked shots by Mbunga again this game too. That dunk by Bynum was pretty damn impressive too. Glad the "T" after it didn't end up hurting them too bad.

PSU apparently damn near blew it against ISU earlier tonight. ISU got within 3 points after being down something like 42-23 at halftime. ISU ended up losing by 8 though.

Well.... Go cats :P Even though they'd probably end up in a play-in game in the tournament, I hope they beat PSU!

Another great Cat victory when it counts. Somewhat reminiscent of the beating the Cats gave Montana in the BSC Championship game in '86, a game which the Griz were the heavy favorites. Griz had won 20+ games, and Larry K was a senior. The Bobcats had a nearly identical record to this years' team, 14-16. That game brought to an end the failed post-season Grizzly careers of both Larry K and Montgomery. Fortunately, both of them found redemption later in their respective careers.

I see both sides of the tournament hosting sight debate. Honestly to GOD, it is embarassing to our conference having so few people at a conference championship when the host team is eliminated. It not only is embarassing, but does not look for our BSC schools when it comes to recruiting. For some recruits, I am sure it is not very appealing and works against the schools. I hope WSU and ISU fans suck it up for the championship and attend.

For those fans that do, "Thank you!"

Congrats, Cats! Wish I'd been watching the Griz tonight, but if we're out, then I want to see a Montana team go on. I have a lot of respect for what you've done with your team this year -- a lot of heart, and a lot of "never say die" moments.

Good luck! :)

So Huse looks to be a very good tournament coach? That was nice. Less talent but man way to leave it all on the court

He's a good coach period and if the Cats win I don't think they will be in the play in game but, well see i guess.

Cat dunk over Weber was the #1 play on Sportscenter. F*ck me. that's cooler than anything we did all season.

That was a sick dunk. He went all Baron Davis on that Weber defender. I'd post that MSU dunk next to it, but it's not youtubed yet...

If you look at the Cats strength of schedule this season, I doubt they will be in the play-in game if they win. That's normally what the selection committee bases their decisions on.

I tell ya, the cats are a good team when Mbunga's playing good ball, looks like he had another good night last night too.

C'MON! Let's look at some simple facts:

1. They have a sub .500 record

2. They have an RPI of 221

3. Their SOS is rated 255

4. They finished 6th in a conference rated 22nd in RPI and 21st in SOS

5. Prior to the BSC tournament, they'd lost 7 of their last 9 games, including 5 in a row.

6. One of their "big" OOC wins (Colorado) had a worse RPI than msu did: 230

7. They have 3 losses to teams with RPIs below 270

(note: RPI figures were taken prior to the victory over Weber last night)

Add all of those up, and that equals....let's see here.....Oh yeah. That equals PLAY-IN GAME!!

Its obviously a testimony to Brad H that he won this game. That said I have to root for PSU for the sake of the conference. No doubt that he was a big part of the Griz success in the past. 8-)
P.S. Move the BSC tournament to a neutral venue; take a look at the WCC this year in Las Vegas compared to past years.

Funny, but if ANY Griz coach:
- lost 10 of the final 13 games of the regular season
-finished last in the conference in fg %, 3-pt fg % and free throw %
-finished next to last in the conference (ahead of only SAC) in scoring offense, scoring defense and asst/turnovers ratio
-finished 7th in the conference (ahead of only SAC and EWU) in rebounding margin

I don't think you would be calling them a "good coach period."

MSU was not a very good team this year. They played well in the tournament, but they got a lot of lucky breaks and they got Weber in their absolute worst game of the year.

I'm not saying Huse is a bad coach, but I'm not going to claim he's a great coach based on 3 tournament games, after they finished 5th, 6th and 6th in the conference in 3 his first seasons.

This sux, the big sky will not send the best team and it will draw it's usual 16 seed in the dance and get throttled by 30. If Weber were to win out they might get the 13 seed and a crack at a beatable 4 like Gonzaga.

PSU might not get a 16 seed, they did beat then #7 Gonzaga earlier in the year.

You just helped prove my point. His team struggled this year but, he got those guys to put that SH_t behind them and come out and play above and beyond their talent level and potential. It takes a good coach to get his players to do that. He will have a well a experienced team team next year that knows how to play in the post-season and that experience is very valuable. It also takes a good coach to do this as well becuase, he understands that by getting them to finish this season strong and as a cinderalla to some degree will add a ton of confidence to the programs success in the future.

You look at Tinkle's teams lack of post-season intensity and drive the last 2 seasons and it's no suprise why they lost this year a long with being a roller-coaster at times this season. Post season longetivity, experience, and success is very important and Brad Huse understands that and has gotten his team to understand that.

no, becuase there would have been teams out of the SWC and some other leagues that have a lower SOS, RPI, etc. THe BSC isn't as low as some think.
