Cats Vs. Spartans?

Cats down by 2 (after singleton hit 1 of 2 FTs on an intentional foul). Cats with the ball... Singleton tosses up a three, misses, and SJSU just got a layup.. Had a chance to tie, and are now down by 4. After a timeout Rush with a slam, so cats down by 2 with 1:30 to go.

Well, that's likely the game, cats wiff a 3 and are down 3 with 8 seconds left. Valiant comeback, but if it breaks their hearts, so be it. Glad to see a little bit of heart in their team.

Well they gave it a good run but not to be. At least it served as keeping my attention on a b-ball game as I wait for tomorrow night vs. Idaho St.

That's 2 games in a row where they had a pretty nice comeback only to not be able to finish it. Missing FTs sure didn't help towards the end. A couple of the Cats freshman showed some good things tonight though it sounds like. Tre Johnson ended up with 15 points and 5 rebounds (6-9 from the field) and Shawn Reid had 11 (3-5 from 3 point).

I was pretty impressed with Tre Johnson when I watched them play against UCLA. Really think they should give him a shot to start along side Howard inside. Hell, it couldn't hurt at this point.. They have to try something drastic to salvage the season.

One thing that's kind of disappointing is it seems a lot of their fans have given up on the team this year. There wasn't a game thread on BCN even at the start of the game...and not really much chatter over there about the game. I know a 7 game losing streak (now 8) is pretty disappointing... We've seen it happen before with our BB Team... but shit...gotta stick with your team even when they are down.. They still likely will end up in the tournament, and once in the tournament anything can happen (until they play the Griz of course :D )

I don't want to see the Griz play them again. It's tough to beat a team three times in a season, despite how crappy they are playing.

Its too bad about the Bobcats, At halftime I thought they were done for, but i kept tabs on my phone and suddenly they are only down 4. Its too bad they couldnt pull out the comeback.

Hopefully Weber can win down in San Jose on Friday.

Weber will show Sparta the other half of the BSC Spectrum.

well we are most certainly very negative right now...myself included. but that is what happens when teams are bad. it even happens to the griz, so it's not really that big of a thing. i guess we could have started a game thread early. but for what? sometimes, instead of posting negative crap during the whole game, it's easier to just watch the game and keep your mouth shut. that is what i've been doing, i still support the team. i still go to every game i can. i don't boo, and cheer pretty vocally. but that support doesn't suddenly make the team good. we are not a good team. i've been saying it before league play even started. sometimes people confuse realistic expectations with being a bad fan. i consider myself a very good fan but anyone who knows anything about basketball and coaching knew we would be pretty bad this year. and we are.

I would still hope that some fans would be interested in discussing the game though. Not everything is negative with the Cats right now. Tre Johnson had a hell of a game, and looks to be someone who could contribute significantly the next few years. Same goes for Reid.

I guess I find it just somewhat interesting how a lot of Cat fans (not accusing you of this btw) accuse the Griz fans of being fair weather fans who would bail on their FB team as soon as we have a few rough seasons..yet we see the same thing going on with the Cats BB program this year. I'm not just going by the sudden lack of chatter on a message board either.. Look at the attendance for the Sac State game. Sure it was a Sunday afternoon game against Sac State, but looking at the stands while watching Big Sky TV, it looked VERY empty. While support doesn't suddenly turn a team into a great team, it can have an affect.

no question. i have been preaching this forever. people love to call griz fairweather fans and i have been telling them how dumb it was for years. if you are a program...you WANT fairweather fans! and winning provides that. this is the same reason that when i was enjoying my time at cat-griz this year....the stands were emptying in the 3rd quarter. i thought that was ridiculous too. and it's ridiculous when cat fans leave early. or don't go to games. but it's not like this is a new thing happening here....

yes, attendance was horrible on sunday. imagine that? the two worst teams playing on a sunday afternoon and the stands aren't packed. to pretend that wouldn't happen at any other school in the country is short-sighted because it would and it does.

and support most certainly can help teams. but it never works that way. teams have to be good first. winning teams bring fans and it goes from there. idaho state could have sold out every game for the last five years and their talent was still so bad they still would have lost just the same. look at cat-griz in bozeman this year. great crowd. very vocal. and we lost by 20. i just don't see how it is surprising that horrible play on the court or field results in quiet, unhappy fans....and eventually to unhappy fans that find something else to do. i can promise you this is how it works everywhere....

i really am agreeing with what you're saying. i just don't understand how it is any different than any other school. these players want great crowds....win games.
