cats Regular Season Predictions

I think they will roll New Mexico and will bring more fans to the stadium than the home team.
As for the season, if key spots stay healthy, they might have a few close games but drop one game. I wouldn't be surprised if they roll into the Brawl undefeated either.
Not arguing, genuinely curious. Are you putting the faith in a revamped offense? Or same and Mellot stays healthy?

Cats are good at home. Schedule that tilts to their favor. Fan base believes in their backups. Mellot has to stay healthy. Coaching changes also allow them some advantages, early on but I can definitely see them 6-0. Idaho comes to Bozo, 7-0. They will handle PSU 8-0. Eastern doesn't give them a challenge, again 9-0. Sac and UC Davis are the only games where I can see them dropping or a coin flip.

If that happens and we have the year we expect to with our schedule, we may top the level of hype for last year's game.

This is out of the assumption that they are playing like they could at times last year. They're definitely top 4 fcs for a reason. I'm not a neighbor Homer but a Griz alum. New Mexico is horrible, worse than Unlv and UNM plays Arizona after the neighbors. If I'm wrong, then I'm setting this up as they really suck party!!! 🤔😎

Oh, I know brother! I wasn't at all thinking you were out here rooting for them. I was being genuine, I've loved your thoughts on here!

I didn't realize UNM was that bad until people here were talking. I follow FBS football at the top line, but have no idea about them.

They are top 4 FCS for a reason, agreed. I try not to hate on them beyond some reasonable discourse and some fun. If they didn't do the ESG thing, I think I would be able to root for them against other teams, maybe. I don't follow their depth enough to know what is to come, but I have some real curiosity. I won't dive into it again, but this year will say a lot about their team and culture and where they are really at. I'm excited to see where this goes, and if the Brawl this year is even bigger than last, we are all in for a hell of a year.

I just think New Mexico would be somewhere between 3rd and 6th in the Big Sky.

Sagarin had them ranked below Idaho, Sac State, UCD, Weber and even NAU last year.

If the cats are as good as they hope to be, they will win that game next year.

Yes but are they as good as they hope to be? I'm not exactly convinced. They couldn't win the big games last year, and while they have new coordinators, as long as Tommy is still QB1 they will be playing basically the same style of offense. Vigen has done well with Choate's recruits but has seemed to slip a little each year.

Yes UNM has been really bad but with a brand new coach there won't be much film to go off of so that could make it hard to prepare. (In the same way Stitt razzle dazzled NDSU in 2015 and then fizzled afterward.)

I see the UNM game going differently than the rest of you I guess. I certainly think it's possible for the Cats to pull off a win, but I just don't think it's very likely, especially in their first game of the season.

Unless New Mexico gets a lot better in one offseason, then the cats should beat them if they want to stand a chance of competing for a national championship. I'd say the same thing about the Griz, if we were playing them.

I agree. To me, the wild card is that this is a first game. So many crazy things happen in first games. Usually a lot of mistakes. I think the Cats have a good chance to win, but it is not a game I would bet on.

Are you going to the game? I think I remember you saying you live out in the desert somewhere.

I line up with you. In recent years, the Cat fans have been way over-optimistic. In fact, delusional. The Cat fans have beenquiet since late Nov., but now some of the delusion is coming out. Ya, NM has been bad, but a new coach and the Portal will likely improve them. They aren't going to get caught sleeping by the Cats. I will wait to see how the Cats look in the early part of their season, and they may prove my current instincts wrong, but as of now I don't see the Cats being even close to being a powerhouse. It's too early for me to get insight from my friends and family in Bozeman, as they will also want to wait to see how things go for the Cats in the early season. Recall, that none of them thought the Cats were great when I asked later in the season last year. Some were hopeful; some were doubtful. None was optimistic and delusional like many of the jokers on egriz.

Tommy hasn't made it through a complete season without being injured. I don't think this season will be any different especially with him taking all the snaps. Chambers was more important for the Bobcats than they will admit, and he couldn't make it through a season either without being injured. No one to replace him, Tommy is going to have a tough go. Last season was supposed to be their year, didn't happen and I don't think this season will be any better for them.

You never know. They could have an NFL caliber QB sitting third on the depth chart because the coaches can't see it because if you bench Tommie Touchdowns, you will be tied to a horse and sent out of state.

I know a lot of Cat fans and all of them are concerned about possible injury to Tommy. The coaches did not go to the portal for a back-up as they feel comfortable with the back-ups that are there, especially Jordan Reed. I don't think any of them is near a Chambers. We were fortunate to have him with his experience when he came in. Can any of these three back-ups get the job done if Tommy gets hurt will be interesting. Vigen has good experience with successful QBs. We will soon find out.

Yeah, not sure if any of the backups can execute designed QB runs up the middle and around the tackles like Tommie TDs, which is basically the whole offense. What I do know is, however bad people think UNM is, they are an FBS program with FBS athletes and FBS resources. They will know what the QB is by this point in his career, and that is an injury-prone running QB who struggles when forced to pass against decent coverage.
