Cats Plan To Run

As the case it is with all games the defense HAS TO TACKLE well. Missed tackles and arm tackles will be the death of us. cats average around 200 per game and we give up about the same. Bottom line is the defense needs to win on 1st down and not give up the big plays. I don't think the cats can beat us running the ball.
That's the point several seem to be missing. They will be able to run the ball on us; just abut everyone has. But can they score enough to keep up with what our offense will do against that horrible MSU defense? Doubt it. Our pass defense is good enough to contain their passing; theirs is not good enough to contain ours.

Getting off to a quick start-as the Griz did against Eastern-will totally negate Ash's strategy. With the Cat defense -that is Eastern comparable- it shouldn't be a problem.

Is Brekke back and 100%? Don't follow the Cats close enough to know what's going on with him, but did happen to see the nasty, helmet to helmet hit from the PSU linebacker that gave him a concussion. The LB should have been thrown out of the game, as I understand the current rules, but the officials didn't even call a personal foul. Awful officiating.

Oh christ! Give me a break..

Under the new rules, there should have been a penalty for the "Helmet to Helmet" hit. Thrown out of a game? C'mon.....Go watch some Jack Tatum highlights. Jeez.......

Flashbacks to last years Griz-Cat Game, pre-game speculation at Wombat Nation, excited that Bleskin was likely to be the starting QB. Prukop was made to sound more like Makena here, Bleskin more like Brady. Welcome to Wombat Nation:

The cats are averaging around 40 ppg and 300 yds rushing with all the back we hav some one should hav a break out game.
And if prukop doesn't play then jake does and has a game like he did against ISU.

This is going to be a great game. I expect the Cats to struggle with the run game more than we like. The Griz offense have shown that they can be explosive and they are healthy. For the Cats to win our young WR need to step up. The Cats need to match the intensity that the Griz are sure to bring.

If they do Cats win. If they don't Griz will probably pull it out.

Prukop's injury is keeping him out. Both of those QB's would start at a majority of teams in the FCS, we are lucky to have them both.

Bleskin at 100% is better than Prukop at anything less than 100%. Go with Bleskin until Prukop is absolutely 100% healed.

As I watched him today, I think he anticipates the wr getting open better than Pru. There were times he threw the ball before the receiver made his break and then when he made his break, there's the ball. Sometimes it seems DP throws to open receivers or runs. Jake waits for the route to develop. Not anything bad about Prukop because his feet add another demention. I just enjoy watching Jake pass.

I think Bleskin is the smarter qb, and Dakota is the more athletic. I base this on Bleskin getting rid of the ball instead of taking the sack. Dakota puts too much on his own shoulders. I don't want to have this sound critical, just an observation.

To be fair, sometimes DP runs out of the pocket before it has completely collapsed. Bleskin seemed to run through his reads better and when he throws he is very accurate. The skillset is certainly different but I think JB brings some things to the table that DP doesn't and vice versa. Also, I think JB proved some people wrong in terms of mobility. I'm not saying he is a Prukop but he made some HUGE plays with his legs. Agree with the early post that said that if both are 100% you start Prukop but if DP is anything less than 100% you start Bleskin. Personally I am looking forward to seeing Bleskin start for Cat-Griz, something cool about having someone who grew up here under center for this game.

I think Bleskin tends to throw the ball knowing the receiver will be open when he makes his cut. I think DP tends to need a receiver open before he makes the throw. That first big pass by Blesking for example. He threw to a spot and let the receiver run to that spot.

Bleskin also has had the advantage of being able to watch, both in the film sessions and during the games, plays unfold. That's pretty much a given and with his talents he'd be able to react differently when faced with a blitz. His main attribute is his quickness (Bleskin is deceptive with his speed). In a sprint, Prukup wins. Prukup probably wins a shuttle race but not by much. Based upon other sports the two played prior to concentrating on football, Bleskin in all probability has an advantage over Prukup in upper body strength although I don't know what their bench weights are, I'm just speculating Bleskin has better weight room data and probably has better eye-hand coordination and peripheral vision...all these intangibles we aren't informed upon and therefore, we just guess.

they're right. He often threw the ball before the receiver was open. To a Griz. Like, REALLY often.

^^^^^ like really, really, really, really, really often. Is that 5 oftens. I think so! I would have felt bad for the young man if the Cats faithful didn't tell us how much better he was than Prukop and how we were all in big, big trouble. Ha!

Of course they will. We have struggled at times against the good running teams. We have not played consistently this year. They play better defensively at home. Could be an interesting game.

Really? Cat fans told you Bleskin was better than Prukop?

You must not have seen the direct quotes on it from the prior page. The proof is in the pudding. Try reading the thread next time, it always helps a little bit.

Bleskin is most definitely a better QB than the RB Pflukopp

The cats O line is soft and beat up right now and they get zero push up front. Prukop has been able to gash slow defenses to the outside. The strength of the Montana defense is the speed to the edge with the linebackers. Dakota will have some nice runs but there will also be nice hits and holds on whomever is blocking Holmes.
