Must be frustrating to Cat fans to beat Washington State and blow out Southern Utah, then lose to NAU. This team has a lot of talent, but seems to be weirdly inconsistent. Still, we need to be wary. They've got some nice pieces.

Look, obviously I’d love for UM to join a real, legitimate conference. I also understand currently our options are limited.

But posts like this are NOT just about finding a new conference. The point of the post is to highlight how ridiculous this
Conference is, in hopes that maybe fans gets pissed enough to force some positive changes. Instead, we just say, “Well it is what is; nothing we can do. Man, I sure look forward to watching another game on Pluto when all I see — if it actually works at all — is the other team’s replays”.

I do agree with you. Being the options are limited, regarding a conference change. I believe the best solution would be to have higher expectations of conference members. A game plan to up the conferences competitiveness, spot light, etc has to be put together. If a member school cannot compete, create fan support, etc, then reduce their benefits, or get them the hell out of the conference. At our current level, would fewer conference members be a bad thing? Right now, there are a few too many conference members who are more of a liability than an asset. I wish a focus could be placed on getting a competitive and solid 8 to 10 members. Hell, that in itself will be a chore.

Regardless, something has to be done to better the conference.

Preaching to the choir but I still love the song. I don't think that the bsc (small letters) has the fortitude to look in the mirror.

This obviously would be a large step in the right direction. But there is SO much more that needs to be done: facilities, fan support, etc. Certainly those are longer term goals. But there is MUCH that could be done in the short run if the bsc gave two shits: increased media coverage; a legitimate television package (or at the absolute minimum, the availability of a true streaming platform like ESPN+), doing more to protect the #1 seed to give the conference something of an actual chance in tournament, etc.

Then there are the two things that must be done immediately: Accountability of officials and accountability of member institutions to better their programs and their nonconference scheduling.

Admittedly some of those are reach goals. And I'd stop complaining if the bsc ever began to take steps to address them, even if those steps are small. But they won't (and sadly, really don't need to), because far, far too many fans are complacent and happily let them get away with it.
