Cats Losing Players

Maybe if the Cats lose enough players the grizz can finally beat them. Then there would be far fewer little brother threads over here and fewer opportunities for PR to put on display his advancing Alzheimer's.

No mention of The Transfer Portal ("TP") = Bobcat post fails to qualify.
It's all about TP. Clean this shit up.

Speaking of the Transfer Portal, I learned today that there are about 5,500 players that have signed on to the Portal and the numbers are rapidly increasing daily. The way it is growing, teams could see a 50% turnover in rosters each year. This came from an Athletic Director.

It is probably the worst thing that's happened with college football ever. It makes it too easy for kids to quit. And, usually the first time you quit is the hardest. It then becomes easier to quit again. Not a good thing for young kids.

Yes, if there is a coaching change, it should be easier to transfer. Or, in the case of a family hardship it would be okay.

It is being made light of in this thread, but it is a serious issue that needs to be revisited by the NCAA.

Or, if a player doesn't want to play football for a certain university, and would instead rather play football for another university, it would be OK, right?

It will be interesting to see if the TP continues to affect MSU more than most, and how that might relate to recruting strategies in general.

Even with the losses, the Cats have had very strong recruiting years under Choate. They have developed excellent depth at most positions.
Really? So why the hell can’t the dude recruit the most important position in all of sports? You would think that with “very stong recruiting years” Mr Chode would have at least found one QB by now who could, you know, actually throw the ball.
Maybe that’s just his strategy. Why waste time recruiting a QB when we can just convert a LB or WR?

I love that the griz have 6 pages about the Bobcat NSD and this thread remains on the top, even with it being their NSD...classic. Also needed to point out that Choate, which you misspelled, announced Troy as a LB today in his press conference. Carry on, griz.

CDA, do you really think young kids just out of high school are mentally ready to make a decision to quit because they run into something they don't like? Example, a SoCal kid comes to a school in Montana and there is a two week real cold snap with a lot of snow, so he says I am leaving for warmer weather. This is a kid most likely on a full schollie. You think that is okay to quit so easily? With the Portal, the kid doesn't need to tell anyone he is thinking of leaving. The Coaches find out after the fact in an email.

With over 5500 players already signed on and growing rapidly every day, all schools are going to be impacted greatly including MSU and UM. It is going to have an impact on all schools recruiting strategy. Before this year is over, I bet you will see some UM players transferring as a result of the Portal. It is going to be interesting. I think you will see it impact more, those teams that have a lot of depth.

Stop traffic. I think if an adult wants to transfer, he should transfer. I don't view that as quitting. I view it as wanting to play somewhere else. Bummer if MSU is on the losing end of it.

Probably the best Cat post in a while.

Man the bite has been on the last couple weeks for a couple fan bases, WFO.

Thirty two new guys added. Doesn’t look like this a trend, it’s the rule. Somebody’s going to have to nail a couple of boards over that dammed portal.

Heard Chokes presser on portal.....paraphrased but kids are quitters, little cold weather shouldn't be a reason to bolt. Interesting that UM didn't have a portal exodus despite cold weather.....

Either he needs to quit signing kids that cant handle the cold or expect more in future

My opinion is isn't just the cold that caused his defections.....

The Portal is quitting made easy. If you think that is good so be it. Personally, I do not think quitting is a good thing for anyone. When you make a commitment, you stick to it. Yes, there are situations like a coaching change or family situation that is okay. MSU is not on the losing end of it. They are fine so far as they have good depth. But the future does not look good for all including UM. Someone should ask Bobby how he feels about it. I think he would totally disagree with you CDA.

No way! It has to be about the cold weather only. It can't have anything to do with recruting ineptitude and/or recruits being sold a false bill of goods.

Again, you label it quitting, and I respectfully disagree.
It sucks for you guys, but can the Bobcats get players via The Portal, or is that prohibited?

Was at the presser and that is not what he said. He was talking in generalities about the Portal. He did not speak to any specific defections. He did not say kids are quitters. He said the Portal makes it to easy for kids to quit. Your posting is more fake news. He talked about the effect this Portal will have on college football in response to a question about it in general from the press. And, he was right-on.

Now that is a decision that many I have talked to, after 50 years of hands on experience, wished they would have made long ago. Wish my wife agreed

Yeah, I'm sure Choach didn't draw from any specific examples in responding to that question. It was very general and hypothetical for sure. I think we just need him to talk about honoring commitments to make him a true Bobcat coach.

Bigsky, when kids are committing how long are they committing for?

They are committing to getting a degree that is being paid for in most cases by a full scholarship or a portion of their education in the case of a partial.

CDA, it appears by your responses about the future effects of the Portal, that quitting is an okay thing for young people. Not surprised.

If you think transfers are quitters, I will hold you to it.
To be continued...
