Bringing this thread back to reality here. Statistically, this is the best defense the Griz will play in regular season this year. And, it stacks up against well against your offensive strengths and weaknesses IMO. #11 total defense, #9 yards/play allowed, #2 scoring D... #4 passing yards/game allowed, #28 rushing D (just ok). Just held the #2 total and #3 passing offense to half of all their season avg stats. MSU's defense is going to be a very formidable challenge for UM's inconsistent offense. If UM shows up like UW, Cal Poly, EWU... it could be a good match. If UM shows up like H1 Dixie, Sac State and most of S. Utah, I would not expect to score many points.
The bigger question I have is UM's DEFENSE. Yeah, it's also pretty good on paper. And, yeah, I would loosely "plan" on the Cats running it straight down your throat again... just like last year. But for as much as you all brag about how tough the run D is, I would honestly question how good of rushing offenses you've played? You tards certainly like to throw that down "lack of strength" against our overall performance this year.
UW is #109 rushing offense (total 130 FBS). In FCS/D1: WIU #119, Cal Poly #121, EWU #40 (loss), Dixie #120, Sac State #34 (loss), Idaho #21 (win), #111 Southern Utah (nearly lost), UNC #98. There are 123 FCS teams in these rankings. 6 of these opponents are bottom 10-15% rushing teams.
It looks like Idaho is the only "decent" rushing team you beat and also held them below their season average rushing yards. In your losses at EWU/Sac, you allowed EWU 187 yards vs. 165 avg YPG and Sac State held them to 154 vs. season average of 170. The rest are complete dogsh*t rushing teams, which you should have and did keep them below their season averages. I'd be willing to bet you don't hold the Cats at or below EWU's 187 yards.
