Cats buyout game vs NDSU

I will say the Cats will beat SMU. The players love play-up games and it helps recruiting. Panhandle State does nothing for you. You really think your team likes playing games like that?

You're not going to beat SMU.

Find me one Griz fan that's happy about that game.

We're not sugarcoating our schedule.

Face it, your AD bitched out. :coffee:

In case it's not sinking in yet,

As someone posted earlier, it really makes msu look like pussies; not ordinary pussies, but large, even hugemongus pussies. In the eyes of the FCS world, having your AD's signature on a contract has as much substance as a piece of soiled toilet paper.

Don't puff out your chest too much. We have bought out our share of games too!

I've $100 which says you don't beat SMU. Want some of that? 8-)

To be fair UM backed out of its fair share of quality games for the sale of money and finances. Yes I think they are pussies. But no more than I felt we were the same when we backed out of games a few years agoZ

For the Cats it is all about the money. They will make much more in this game. Plus, they now have two games in Texas (SFA, SMU) which all the lone star players and thier families will like. Great for recruiting too. Smart move!

The Cats will see NDSU in the national championship!
It's all about being afraid to play in Fargo.

Wait a tick, werent the griz notorious for buying out the away game of a home and home? Saw lots of justifications back then. Now all of a sudden it's the 8th deadly sin?

Face it--our AD made a smart business move. To travel two times out to ND doesn't make good business sense. Those two trips would cost mucho money. To get a play-up game is a good money maker. Let's face it, in todays world schools need to maximaize the bucks. Why do you think Panhandle State is coming to Missoula? They are going to get heir heads handed to them.

MSU has a good track record in play-up games, beating Colorado, close game with Minnesota and losing to Washington State on a mistake in the last seconds. They have been competitive in their play-up games.

When did they ever back down from playing the defending champs? The Griz bought out games to look for better competition, simple as that.

In this case it means $100,000,no more no less, I wish we could have played it, but we have several players from the Dallas - Ft Worth area, not sure what the payout will be but I am sure it will be worth a lot more to play SMU, lots of players will be happy that they will be playing in front of family and friends.

I get the justification you're putting forth but it's still a sleazy move.

As vocal as I've been about this, I can't deny that we've done it, too.

Don't you remember the scheduling debacle that was 2007?

Pretty sure we bought out Cal Poly and SDSU that year to play Albany and Southern Utah.

At least we haven't done it since then.

I just have a problem with Cat fans saying this is entirely a good thing. I really disagree.

Better competition? Look at who we started with and who we ended up with. We were just as big of bit**es as they are being.

Your a fool if you don't think it isn't about the money. Schools need all they can get. Like I said, two trips to ND in one season does not make any sense business wise.

As I mentioned , you won't see your AD jumping in to fill the void at NDSU. It's your chance now to play the best in the FCS. But he would rather play Panhandle State. You could buy your way out of Panhandle State easily and move up and play the FCS champions now. So much for buying out games to play better competition!

We already have a quality FCS game against app state and future games against McNeese and such. Not sure this argument goes anywhere. But as I said in other posts, we were no better when we dumped teams for other opponents.

Jesus, you can't be this stupid.

We'd have to buy out and reschedule at least 2 games if we even wanted to.

Our Panhandle game is Sep 21st, the same day NDSU is scheduled to play Delware State.

Which doesn't mean that S.F. Austin, Sam Houston State, McNeese St. and Nicholls St don't have openings on that date (21 Sept 2013). UofM can easily drop Panhandle State and schedule one of the above; quite easily. That's if they got the gumption for it; which I most hardily doubt.
