I'm confused. So is he gone or not? Is he still coaching or not? Was there an incident downtown or not?
my understanding......not......not......incident....
Sounds like he was reassigned, and his contract will not be renewed.

If you really want to know about bobcat rumors, go to BN:

Beck NOT let go

As some of you may have noticed I deleted the thread about Beck being let go from MSU. I've talked directly with Beck and he has confirmed to me he was not let go. His role with MSU has changed as he has been moved by Choate into more of an administrative role going forward. He stressed that this change had nothing to do with any outside incident.

Yes, and his contract will be allowed to run out in June.

Why is anyone surprised ?

this is typical pre-season bobkitten batter......

Just a few weeks away from the Kittens becoming the pre-season National champs......
they'll be starting all the second stringers.....

And this is typical what the bobkittens post-Griz/cat looks like:

Bo Beck:

http://www.msubobcats.com/coaches.aspx?rc=429

Bo Beck will begin a new position on the other side of the line of scrimmage coaching the Bobcat tight ends. He will also retain his position as recruiting coordinator as well, under new MSU head coach Jeff Choate. Beck inherited one of the legendary position groups in Big Sky Conference history when he became the program’s defensive line coach in the summer of 2007, and immediately set about enhancing the Bobcat D-line’s reputation. His success in that endeavor would have been as unthinkable then as it is spectacular eight seasons later, but in that time Beck has possibly been the most successful position coach in the entire FCS. Under Beck’s guidance, the Bobcat defensive line has produced not only two Buck Buchanan Award winners (Brad Daly in 2013, Caleb Schreibeis in 2012) and a pair of Big Sky Defensive MVPs (Daly in 2013 and Dane Fletcher in 2009), but seven First Team All-Big Sky choices and five All-Americas – all in the last five seasons. Two of Beck’s Bobcat protégés – Fletcher, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Zach Minter, Cincinnati Bengals – begin 2014 on NFL rosters. The MSU defensive line’s individual achievement is grounded in production as a unit. The Bobcats led the Big Sky in sacks in 2011 – piling up a gaudy 44 – and 2009, finishing second in 2008 and 2012. Brad Daly led the Big Sky with 1.04 sacks a game in 2011, and led the nation in 2013 with 1.17 per game. An original member of Ash’s Bobcat coaching staff, Beck has worked as recruiting coordinator for the past two seasons. He has also been extremely active in the Bozeman community, and serves on the board of directors of the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Southwest Montana. A former Colorado State defensive lineman, Beck began his collegiate coaching career as Rob Ash’s defensive line coach at Drake from 2002-04, moving to Iowa State as a graduate assistant from 2004-06. Beck began his playing career at Arizona State, finishing at and graduating from CSU in 2002.

Born: September 4, 1971
Education: BA CSU, 2002; MS Drake, 2005; MS Iowa State, 2007.
Player: Played at Arizona State (1989, ’90), Colorado State (1991, ’92)
Hometown: Fort Collins, CO

Replacing all that proven success at DL for this GA experienced guy...

Byron Hout

http://www.msubobcats.com/coaches.aspx?rc=497&path=football

Byron Hout becomes the program's defensive line coach under new Bobcat mentor Jeff Choate.

Hout played on Boise State teams that compiled a cumulative records of 50-3 during his career, earning 2nd Team All-Mountain West honors in 2010 and honorable mention the next season, and he comes to MSU as defensive line coach. He played on two WAC and two Mountain West title teams for the Broncos. He worked as a defensive graduate assistant at Washington State in 2012 before returning to his alma mater in a similar role in 2013.

"Byron is another player I was involved in recruiting," Choate said. "He played for me in my time at Boise State and was my graduate assistant at Washington State. He is a high-energy and extremely intelligent young coach with tremendous passion for the game. I know our young players in the defensive line are going to love playing for him."

So the bobcats fired "the most successful position coach in the entire FCS"?

Either I'm missing something or the Cats are exaggerating. Must be the former because the latter would never happen

Complacency is a cancer

"There was no outside incident, but even if there was, and I'm not saying there was, but even if there was, this demotion has nothing whatsoever to do with any incidents that never happened. Nosireeebob. Even though it happened just the week following the incident that did not happen. Strictly people's imaginations."
