I can’t pinpoint it for sure, but it MIGHT have something to do with them playing against two very good defenses the last 2 games? :o

If you wouldn’t have creatively edited my post you would have read where I credited the cat and Weber defenses.

You asked and answered your own question...

I suppose if you subscribe to Occam's razor or cat hubris, it truly is the only possible explanation.

We’ll see if Eastern rebounds from the two losses.

I was curious how after we won your fan base would respond with excuses and I have to say I am impressed. I truly thought you’d all finally see the light… here I am wrong again and y’all found a way to justify the EWU game.

Honestly, EWU is lucky it wasn’t a blow out, we also had dropped balls. Turnovers were -2 for us. EWU is still EWU we are just better… but I don’t expect you to digest that well.

.... No doubt the cats and Weber have solid defenses but I can’t help but wonder what is going on with Eastern.
I have always suspected teams that played an entire 2020 spring would slow down late. NDSU looked really tired yesterday, and SDSU already lost twice to FCS teams. Weber might be in this category, and some examples in the CAA. SHSU came out and said they were only playing 10 games for this reason.

Agreed here.

I can't point to a single team that is unstoppable this season.

The playoffs are more wide open than they've been in over a decade.

That’s a really interesting hypothesis. I remember folks talking about the risk of injuries with spring ball but fatigue might be playing a role. Not exactly sure how to even measure fatigue, you have physical, emotional and psychological aspects.

I’m trying to remember. Was knight injured during spring or during summer workouts?

I obviously meant the 2021 spring, but yes, all of the above. The physical toll is evident in the injury sheet, but mental fatigue is not so easy to spot. I have been watching for spring teams, particularly spring teams that made the playoffs, to start to fade as the season progresses.

I completely agree. All those games that were played in the spring have to be taking a toll on the players. SHS played a season and several hard games in the playoffs. That includes SDSU and NDSU. That all ended only weeks before fall camp. Those guys have to be mentally tired from all that. That is why I think we could be set for a deep playoff run if we can get a few players back.

Their QB, Eric B, shouldn’t even been playing. The poor dude has been contending with COVID since just prior to the Weber game. They took him out of ICU mere hours before the MSU kickoff. Talk about a lucky break for you cat fans. Took a world wide pandemic for you to beat Eastern.

I believe Knight was injured in spring workouts prior to the two spring games.

Yeah, that must be some pretty good s**t. EWU is a good team ... so is MSU. They both have proven (by the numbers) that they deserve their high rankings. So have the Griz, with different strengths. Can't understand why people have to tear down the opposition to try to make their preferred team look better.

He blew his knee out in the first spring practice in a non-contact drill.
