It's infuriating, but it happens all the time.
I also love how people act like the defense doesn't know where the sticks are, too.
So the question becomes: Why design a play that somehow doesn't account for what the defense is bound to know? The QB can pad is completion stats, but it doesn't accomplish anything for the team.
Sorry I didn't make my point clear. I was not addressing the specific issue of Griz receivers (not being able)/(having no time) to get open against a superior defense. My comment was really meant for the pro situation where, presumably, the talent level is more even ... yet receivers still fail to go deep enough so a catch is good for a first down. And, as a long-suffering Niner fan myself (grew up near Marysville, CA), I feel your pain.![]()
