When times get tough, it is very predictable that a fan base such is yours will fall back on what is comfortable to them - bashing the Cats. I truly hope it is making you guys feel better about the imminent doom to soon afflict your program. No one is saying last year wasn't a bloodbath. It was just embarrassing. But that isn't the point.

Yep, quite the tight ship you guys are running up here. If all that matters is you guys beating the Cats, then I think you are missing the point about why all of this much deserved attention is on you in the first place. Bash away, boys and girls, bash away.

"Fall back on"? When did anyone here stop bashing the Cats? Regardless of the state of Griz football, is it always respectable to bash your rival. Or is that your explanation as to why Cat fans chant ESGGCG at games other than with the Griz or burn Monte in effigy? Apparently times have been tough in Cat-ville for decades because Cats fans relish in their bashing of the Griz and believe me, Griz fans can take it and dish it back just fine. Cry me a bucket! (cue Bear Axed)

Says a fan of a team who's season is made or broken depending on what happens in the Griz/scat game.
 
No, I don't think so. I would say most cat fans were deeply dissapointed by getting our barn holes blown out by you guys last year, but a 10 win season and a playoff win was better than the year before, even though we beat you in missoula.

The same peeps who have ONE Griz on first, second, or third team pre-season all conference teams. Yet, through some miracle of science (and coaching) we'll still manage to go 9-2 or 10-1, make a deep playoff run and apparently "surprise" everyone for the 18th year out of the last 19. 8-)

I view these nominations as the consolation prizes for good players on teams that won't win much of anything else. I'm sure any of them would trade the dubious honor for winning even one playoff game this year.

Actually, all that matters to us is winning playoff games. Something we did twice last year to match your last 25+ years

The irony being that times have been rough more often than not for your fanbase over the last 25 years, wherein your fans have had to cope by "fall[ing] back" to the familiar comforts:

A) Bashing our fans
B) Bashing our city
C) Bashing our academics
 
Brock - Might have been more frequently tough in the past 25 years in the aggregate; however I don't think I can name one program in the entire nation who would want to trade places with UM's legal situation other than Penn State.

I learned long ago that you should never wish for your foe to do badly, it doesn't do any good and you have no control. You are better to work on the things you can control, like your own actions. That being said it is well know that save for a few brief periods, the Griz have owned the Cats in football. But the streak really changed things in that there was a generation of fans that didn't see a Cat win. I have to say, the Brawl kinda became the Boring, but is much more fun now that the outcome isn't quite so clear.

Listen, we have a lot on our plate as Griz fans now, so there is no need to concern ourselves with the Cats. I love the rivalry, but it doesn't consume me. Beside, I have no control in the outcome other then I will be screaming my fool head off when we play them at WGS this fall. The chips will fall where they may.
