Cat Griz Observation

Went to the game on Sat. What happened to Has-Quit. A few good rebounds here and there but he roames the three point line all night. He has the size to be a serious 4 but thinks he is a 2. I thought the Griz played hard but were extremely lost at the end of the game. When we kept scoring layups towards the end not one Griz player decided to drop the hammer and make sure the cats remembered their trip inside.

I think the Griz will win alot of games this season but it was clear that they were not conditioned and coached to win the game. The Griz remind me of what Mick did back in the day. Players coach that allowed players to play their own game.

Obviousily, Carlos isn't going to get 34 every night so the cats were playing a little over their heads. But the Griz sub par backcourt and a front court that thinks they are guards is something that will loom the entire season.

To Hasquets defence I will say it looked to me that Hasquet went out side because the guards could not or would not feed the post. The only way he could get touches was to go out side. I will say this if I have a Big Sky program with Strait, Hasquet and Qvale. The big get at least 1-2 touches every time down the court. The guards do not get to shoot until these guy's get their touches.

Hasquet can shoot the 3 so I don't have a problem there. But I do have a problem w/ him throwing up a 28 footer or the gaurds pulling up from 18-20 w/ a guy in thier face.

I see a team w/ NO discipline. Could be a long year...

While watching the game, it was a flashback to Jordan's Sentinel days. Standing out on the perimeter, playing guard, instead of establishing his presence inside.

I agree, Qvale played 1 freaking minute. If Huse had made a decision on Howard based on his 1st half like Tinks did Qvale, the cat rally might not have occurred since it was Howard that ignited the cats.

I agree with the OP about taking a stand too. Tinks said as much in the post game, whether calling your players out in public is the way to go is another debate I guess. :twocents:

it's all a coaching problem. Discipline, play calling, shot selection is all a byproduct of coaching.

I thought they did a pretty good job running the offense in the first half. Very few bad shots. However the second half got so bad that I had to quit watching it because I knew what the outcome was going to be with the griz forcing shots while the cats were running an offense.
