Carroll QB Out for Season

The Pats aren't the only one who lost their QB for the season. Carroll will go with a freshman QB the rest of the way, with a true freshman as his backup. Can Van Diest do it again?

Definitely a shame that Wagner broke his leg. I think he was going to have a great year. Time for the rest to step up.

In a perverse sort of fashion, this is an opportunity for the RS freshman. It's reminiscent of when Dan Pastorini broke his leg. Waiting in the wings was a supposedly washed-up Jim Plunkett, who washed out of a no-cut/no-trade contract in New England AND out of cr@ppy San Fran. The result was two Super Bowl wins, including one that year. And nobody saw anything of Pastorini after that.

I just hope that the guy who got hurt doesn't go the route Pastorini did. And if the RS freshman wins the title, that will be yet another feather in Van Diest's cap. I for one hope THAT half of the equation happens. So long as it's not Evangel they beat on the way. ;)

Hardly a valid comparison. You are talking about kids out of high school programs, not NFL veterans.
