Carroll College vs Portland State

uh oh...the  do you have any idea how stupid that makes me feel or how bad it makes me want to  ?

anyway, i don't have to agree with that at all. i have a ton of respect for carroll as a whole. i have been family friends with bruce parker my whole life and his enthusiasm is contageous. i have watched several football and hoops games as a guest and never intended to bash them. but my OPINION is that this game will not be close. carroll is a great program. they have kids on the roster who i no doubt think could play at our level. just a we have kids on the cats and griz that i think could play at a higher level. but just as top to bottom the cats and griz aren't as good as the big boys....top to bottom carroll is not as good as psu.

so  all you want...i don't see this game being as close as you seem to think.

fwiw...i hate psu and would love nothing more to see them lose to carroll. if they do i will come back to this thread and say how wrong i was...and i'll do it with a smile on my face. psu is a classless bunch.

but please....not to many more of these  directed my way or i might not be able to get through the day.

...seriously. most of us have seen carroll play many times. and even if we didn't....it doesn't matter. i haven't seen alabama play a down this year either....but if they were facing my bobcats i'd predict a blowout of epic proportions in favor of the tide.

it is what it is man.

whatever. first off carroll is a top-notch n.a.i.a. team and p.s.u. is an average f.c.s. team even when it had cavanaugh and mccaffry. if m.s.u. was a top-notch f.c.s. team and bama was an average f.b.s. team you'd predict a blowout of epic proportions? you're a pessimist, if so. maybe you've watched c.c. play, but you obviously haven't been paying any attention to f.b.s. vs. f.c.s. games. there are 3-4 games a year where a f.c.s. team wins. knowing that you have to agree that this game has all the markings of a potential down to the wire game.

Just a little love comin' your way from an average f.c.s. fan. It's time you get a grip on what's happening outside your cave.

OK who are they?? I'm listening. Name the player, position and the Griz starter the carroll player would beat out. Seriously.

There have been several players over the years that would have started at UofM I will start with BOTH the Emmert brothers. Tyler in particular was I believe undeafeted at Capital High in two or three years as a starter and then I believe had only one loss and three national titles his Soph-Senior seasons very smart QB with good arm and accuracy. Travis Browne who was a WR a few years back was fast as all hell and made people look stupid. Obviously Fitzimmons. This years squad has the running back. Then there is the kid from Helena High who was the AA Defensive MVP Sean Blomquist and I was SHOCKED that he didn't play for Montana. And the others mentioned previously. I played with several players that went on to UofM and several that played NAIA in Helena. I will tell you that with some of these guys there is not that much if any a drop off in talent. One of the guys I played with ended up being an All American at Montana. Other guys I played with ended up being All Americans at Carroll. Do I think that the Griz guy was WAY better an athlete than the Carroll guys? Hell no.

Your statement was "Carroll has kids that could start for Montana" meaning kids on THIS YEARS team and then you go on mentioning carroll studs from the past. I don't think there is one player CURRENTLY playing for carroll that would start for the Griz. And yes I have seen carroll games recently against Tech and the speed of the game and talent level isn't even close. PSU will start taking their foot off the gas petal when they get up by about 40, then Carroll will score a couple garbage td's against the PSU scrubs to make the final score misleading.

PSU 56 Carroll 21

First of all I agree with everything hammer just said, except for the Diggers part. Second of all you are on crack if you think Tyler Emmert would start over Craig Ochs or Jeff Disney. He might have started in 2005 when Berquist was a Freshman

In case you haven't noticed Tech always plays carroll tough and the tide may turn soon, Coach Morrell has a season under his belt to get his flex defense and offense installed and he knows what it takes to beat Carroll since he did it twice as an assistant coach in the NAIA playoffs at Souix Falls, once in the national championship I believe.

I don't think Tech plays Carroll tough EVER! Carroll versus Tech maybe the most lopsided rivalry in all sports! I believe Carroll has won 34 out of the Last 35 games played between the two and the only reason some of the games are close is because MVD has pulled the reigns back early in the first half!

Coach Morrell did beat Carroll once, but as you know, Carroll started a true freshman wide receiver at quarterback and the Saints still gave them a great game. I remember Tyler Emmert shredding Coach Morrell's great defense, 55-0 in the Semi-finals in 2005.

When Carroll plays PSU, the scholarship difference (60-24) will be too much to over come, but you give Van Diest 60 scholarships, Carroll would win plenty of Big Sky titles! Just my opinion!

close for only the first few series -

flood gates open and the speed, depth rolls the Saints...

not unlike the way the Ducks, Hawks gamed us, but the difference between NAIA and FCS even greater.

would love to see em keep it close or create a miracle like the APP win over MIch years back but reality as above noted sets in....

The only games I have seen which could in some way be comparable were a couple Western games at Idaho State. Both were awful teams, and the game was only close for about five minutes.

Carroll vs Tech is always a great game to watch and always a tough game no matter the score. In Butte last year Tech forced two early turnovers and had the ball inside Carroll territory but could not punch it in which killed them. Defense played great offense nit so much. At Carroll Tech ended up losing by 14 but dropped two wide open TDs that would have changed the game. So apparently that game is MVD holding back the reigns???? I wanna hear why MVD or any coach would want to hold back the reigns early in the first half of ANY game???? Oh ya and if we cant beat them on the field......at least we can graduate our guys with jobs after college :)

"You know you went to Carroll when you paid over $100,000 and all you learned to say is......."May I Take Your Order?"

Done, and $100. Name is Nick. Not hard to find.

Cool, this will be an interesting one. I will send you a PM so we wont forget.
I'll PM you my information so you can send me the hundred bucks. It's fun to read through this string and see all the ridiculous predictions about how carroll was going to get stomped.

didn't go back and read it. i know i predicted the vikes would win by about 3 tds. i thought that was on par with what most were saying but like i said...i didn't go back and read through it. but i personally don't feel to ridiculous for predicting a 21+ point loss when in fact they only lost by 18.
