Think Carp may be out...Miami drafts Kicker in round 5, you don't do that unless you plan on keeping the guy

The Dolphins drafted Florida kicker Caleb Sturgis from the SEC. The draft pundits said he's got a strong leg and is very accurate. Dan's high cap number (2.5 million), weak performance to start the 2012 NFL season and groin injury late in the year culminated in Miami drafting a younger, cheaper replacement. I have no doubt that Dan will still be kicking the the NFL this season, but it won't be in Miami. I hope for Dan's sake they release him sooner rather than later so he has ample time to catch on with another team. I am a lifer Dophins fan and have absolutely enjoyed the last several years when my favorite NFL team has featured an abundance of Griz players. Good luck wherever you land Dan, unless it's with the stinkin' Jets.

What is it with you dink Finfans hate'n on the Jets anyway? I know about 5 of you boneheads and ALL of you HATE the Jets! For siht sake, you idiots should be sending them a Christmas Card EVERY year for taking Ken O'Brien ahead of Marino... or it would have been the Jets dominating the AFC East thru the late 80's and early-90's and you lickers would have been wearing the bags over your heads... From a lifer J-E-T-S! JETS! JETS! JETS! fan.... YOU'RE WELCOME! ;)

The most memorable thing about the Jets is their owner's name...Woody Johnson ;)

SEAHAWKS!!!!... I wish, but they have their kicker

Steven Hauschka was 24/27

I don't know about Dan being done in Miami... They have brought in other kickers in the past, but agree the 5th round is early

Despite all the hoo-hah, for a lot of NFL teams it's still more about "not losing" than it is about "go out and win the game." That means they "waller around" until it comes down to making (or not) a late FG. When Carp went down with an injury, that meant Miami had ZILCH to win those close games. I think they drafted a K to (1) keep Carp on his toes and (2) have a fall-back if he goes down again.

for my friend the Mayor, a great video of JETS fans' reactions to horrible picks over the last 30 years:

Rumour has it that the Mayor was last seen drinking at the Jimtown Bar following the draft.

Lame Deer aint got much but it has the toughest bar in Montana..

Not doubting your claim about the Jimtown but Poplar had (has) some rough bars. Used to go in them back in the day but I'm older and wiser now and wouldn't even think about it.

Daylight hours only my friend! If it gets wobbly just tell the barman to hit 'em wall to wall except for the whites, pay for the drinks and get the F out!

CClark,

I would say yes as far as reputation. But I would defer to our friends in Rosebud Co. I was in the Jimtown for one drink in the afternoon on a bender with my brother-in-law and a runaway Hoot. They filled me with enough horror stories of the place. Plus the bar hats warned of the Friday night special: shot, stabbed or raped. The barstools were logs that were bolted into the ground so you couldn't hit anyone with your chair. The drinks came in plastic cups for the same reason. Lots of stabbings and shootings. Plus probably not a great idea to put the Crow and the Cheyenne together in a drinking establishment in the first place.
