Carp

Hard to believe he's had 9 seasons in the NFL (I think that's correct). He was quite the weapon for the Griz - punting AND kicking. Didn't they lead or finish very high in the nation in several kicking/special teams categories during his senior season?

Career 85% on FGs in the NFL, I believe.

He'll get picked up.

I wouldn't count on it. His "number" is pretty high as a nine year veteran...and his performance wasn't the greatest last season. Lots of cheaper alternatives out there....

There are only 32 placekicking jobs in the NFL. Tough gig to land and keep. Hopefully he does get a shot somewhere else, but lots of competition that are less expensive, as AZ points out.

I didn't realize he missed 11 XP the last 2 years, that's a bunch. I knew Haushka had issues with it but didn't notice DC.

To be fair, the XP has been moved back the last 2 years to where it is now about a 30 yarder. However, he has to be able to make those routinely to stick with a team.

It's a simple reality for Carps that if he wants to resign with another team, he'll need to take considerably less money.

I could see a team bring him into camp to compete with (mentor) a young kicker, and then get cut, unfortunately.

Problem is the veteran minimum for a 9-year player may be more than any team wants to pay for a kicker that only makes 75% of his attempts now. And he can't take less than the minimum.

Yep.
