can't stop 3rd and 17

That's a good look at it, ball looks to be right on the yardline, would have been an interesting measurement. Maybe Bobby had a better look at it then we thought.

Not that it matters at this point but here is a screenshot of the 4th and 17 play at the end of the game. Dang near a full yard short of the first down.

Actually when I rewatched the play, this call was a lot closer than I thought it would be. The first picture is misleading, because it is after the catch and the player was coming back to the ball, which makes it look short. The second picture shows when the catch was made, the receiver is cradling the ball in his chest and it appears to be right at the line.

I agree 100% with you. During the game I thought it was obviously short. When I watched the game after I got home I was amazed how close it was and even thought that it might’ve been a completed pass for a first down.

I think in hindsight after reviewing the play many times that it was a good decision by Bobby to save the time out in case we would need it later on. I am sure from his viewpoint he thought they made it too. I really don’t believe the call would have been overturned.

From the second pic. It looks likes nobody is within 4 yards of the panther receiver, pretty tough to stop anybody that way.

Damn, I guess my trigger finger on my remote wasn't as quick as I thought. :D That was a lot closer than I thought.

Did anyone else also notice on their TD run from the 1 yard line, and a few more runs throughout the game...their LG seemed to be false starting and coming off the ball a solid half second faster than the snap???

He got some huge pushes that way as well.

Yeah.

He did it nearly every play, and I think they only called one or two false start penalties on them.

100%, couldn't believe they didn't see that. Doesn't give your D line much chance. #runningstart

You'd have to believe that whoever was in the booth would have seen it and informed BH so he could chat up the line judge. It sure was easy to see on TV.

Yep, I thought I saw that several times, too.

Uh so the pic where the receivers knees are on the ground, clocks says 4:03. The play where he is a yard short with his shoulder touching the ground clock says 4:02! I recall the receiver catching the ball short and the taking an odd roll forward to get over the first down line. If you have it on DVR watch it again. He was short.
I thought for sure the refs saw it and when they gave him the first down I was like NFW..

The clock counts down. So 4:03 happens before 4:02. Forward progress is right at the line to gain at 4:03. I know the replay official. He said there was not conclusive video to overturn the spot called on the field.

Oops, maybe I need to learn to count.

I don't think I agree with the video official. He should have stopped the game to look multiple times. In the one photo, it's hard to see where the ball is, but when the catch was made, I thought he had to reach out to make the catch. His knees were down already, so ball/player would have been done immediately, not when he puled he ball back to his body.

Thanks mtgriz. I have never seen a clock count up in football.
