Most likely can’t afford to move up, look at Boise State, for how popular there brand is and all the money they bring in they fall short. MBB has 1 million revenue share and they were bad last year. Football has a 5 mil revenue share, WBB and W soccer have 200k revenue share mostly from local car dealers providing free car leases.

No, the words "I want to move up" never come out of his mouth. He does make several quotes that could imply he has definitely thought about moving up with the intension to do so. His demeanor during these quotes is positive and optimistic but then he speaks on the financial hurdles that would need to be overcome to do so and you can see his face turn from hopeful to doubtful.

My thought is Kent knows the cost will hold us back and he's hoping that when the split occurs, the G6 will allow the top FCS schools to join them at a far reduced fee, or potentially no fee.

Banking on a split of the G6 is risky as the split may never come, while other peer FCS programs have a defined athletic plan and fund raising goals. NDSU had climb the mountain. Maybe Kent has a plan but it’s hard to find and donate if you don’t know about it.

NDSU had maxed out at FCS. Attendance and interest were going down. Didn't have to move other sports to a new conference. Wasn't tied at the hip with UND. More big money available to be tapped.

To be fair NDSU has Bill Gates paying the bills while Montana has Town Pump.
