Can Simis be The One?

:thumb: if they are going to be pathetic and lose at least have a freshman p,at who can learn from his mistakes. Maybe in 4 years Griz can compete again. This team can't, tons of talent, no heart, an 0 coaching. I miss Gene Carlson, he lost the old fashioned way.

no heart is right and very little emotion.. Shit, if we played the way we come out of the tunnel before every home game, we'd never lose!

I believe Simis will be the one and will now get the chance to prove it. The problem is that the OL -- and maybe Stitt's offensive design -- might prevent him succeeding. Sure Stitt has innovated but where's the payoff. No FBs, no TEs, going for it on 4th at your own end of the field -- none of it has shown its value yet. Semi-patiently waiting...

I've already said this in another thread, but Simis must make serious plays with his feet for this Offense to be successful under him. No one is letting Jones or Henderson over the top because they don't have to worry about big plays from the QB run or the Run game. Prukop is finding guys streaking wide open because everyone on the defense respects his feet. Simis has the most potential of all our QB's when it comes to his legs and size. The read option kills defenses in the Big Sky over and over. I think Simis can make plays and get us in positions to win.

The good thing is, the GRIZ have 2 weeks to prepare Simis. This bye week is coming at a perfect time for the GRIZ. Personally, from the scrimmages I saw and some information I heard from behind the scenes, I felt Simis was and now is a great fit for this offense. He throws passes with good zip and accuracy. He also a more athletic runner than Chalich with better size to absorb more hits. Simis negatives are he has not been as quick in recognizing defensive strategies and reading the play progressions. He also tends to run a little too soon from the pocket. Those things come with 1st team reps. He now has the 1 thing that will help him most with 1st team reps. Physically, he is the best qb in terms of versatility and a total package. The question is, can he grasp the mental parts of this offense? If so, GRIZ fans just might be pleased with the results.

Simis was thought to be the next Jordy Johnson when recruited - if he can get comfy in the system and make some plays with his athletic ability that could help open up the pass game. He could give us a partial glimpse of "what it would have been like" to see JJ in this offense.

I think Simis looked pretty good in there. Had 1 crucial drop ball by Henderson on a 4th down that would have continued a drive in the red zone and his line gave him 4 sacks (really never felt one was his fault for holding onto the ball too long). His feet kept us alive on drives and he threw a great ball to Roberts right in front of the safety for the TD. I thought he showed promise. Much more than I ever felt with SSH in there (not to bash a guy who gave his all for this team).

The chance of a successful football season are really slim right now. It may be time for Coach Stitt to see if he has the quarterback of the future on staff now, or if he has to recruit for one who has a chance to immediately walk into a starting role next year.

Why not burn Pflug's red shirt and find out if he has what it takes to be the QB for the following 3 years?

Having a long-term QB starting next year will be key as Still recruits and installs the line talent needed for his offense.

Just a thought...

Got to be next man up, what choice is there? But who's in line to become #2 if anything happens to Simis?

Would be Prater, right? But what are the odds, statistically, of losing a 3rd QB? I mean, has it ever happened? (And I'm assuming that Gus and Chalich will each be back this season.)

In your system? Pretty good unfortunately. No, I'm not wishing injury on your players so don't go there. LTCF and myself, and others were telling you early on that the combination of Stitt's unwavering commitment to running the maximum number of plays every game, coupled with your O line problems was going to wear out your players, especially QB's. Actually it's surprising to me that you haven't seen more injuries to other skill positions and on defense with the commitment to a super high play count.

Heard this from the grapevine. Expect a transfer from Colorado next year. Someone Stitt tried to recruit to the Mines, but made his way to Colorado instead. Perfect fit for our system.

A guard or tackle hopefully. Yeah, I know...

I agree....he needs to make them respect his running ala Prukop.

Does this mean the Rocky will finally get it's QB?
