Can Griz skill skill positions make up for O-Line?

I don't post much, but I visit eGriz often and read many of the topics. If this has been discussed earlier please forgive me. However I am reading a lot of concerns about the level of inexperience in our o-line. Am I crazy to think that maybe the high ability of our skill positions will take most of the pressure off our o-line? I think our offense can have the possibility of lighting up the scoreboard on a regular basis.

Eat SH** Bobcats! Go Griz Go!

Unfortunately, that is tough. All too many times a bad o-line make great talent look mediocre. The Griz have great offensive talent, but unless this o-line does something remarkable it will be tough to consistently make plays.

Holes don't open, and not for long when they do. WR routes don't have time to develop, etc. I expect to see a LOT of play action, bootleg, sprint-outs this year. Those things help an o-line. But that can only do so much. If you can't run the ball with any effectiveness, teams aren't forced to load the box to stop the run.

Football is won and lost in the trenches.

Remember the Bobcats o-line a couple of years ago? It really hurt their offense. At the FCS level, teams never have the depth at the o-line position that the FBS schools have. Unfortunately there is a huge drop-off in ability as one goes deep into the roster.

I hope you guys can figure things out...sounds like you're taking some huge hits to an already thin OL. We want your team a legit contender when you come visit in Cheney ;)

Huge hit. Doesn't matter if you have amazing skill positions on offense if you don't have protection up front. I was hoping for a full strength griz team in Cheney this year. Oh well.

Don't worry, you all will get Montana Grizzly football no matter who is playing.
