I would say from my personal observation Flowers was a close second to AH YAT on the practice field. If he had some real game time experience he could be better but it would take that at the minimum. He was rotated as second string some latter in practice when I was there which is where I currently think he stands. After seeing Jensen I don't see an upside for him other than a fill in. Flowers needs to be given game experience asap in case AH YAT gets injured.
I wonder if Jensen was brought in to compete, but the likely scenario all along is to be the QB with the clipboard- typically you want that guy to have experience around the game to help the guy in the game. I would think (and sometimes I do not think well) pease wants Ay Yat as QB1, Flowers QB2 of Ay Yat can’t turn the corner- Jensen helping get plays in

The thing that is difficult for today's college coaches is that if you try to "develop" a player there is a real possibility they will transfer the next year. Trying to keep young talented players happy has to be difficult. If Jensen doesn't play much he will leave UM with his Masters paid for and very little wear and tear on his body over 7 years.

Today was my first practice that I've attended. To me, KAY is the leader and it doesn't appear close. Hes bulked up considerably from the eye test, hes poised, and made some great looking throws today. Jensen and flowers are definitely serviceable. To me, in comparison to last season, Jensen looks quite a lot better than fife at the same juncture, but KAY looks much more the part. My money is on KAY currently, with Jensen and flowers pushing ( and looking solid).

Other observations:

-Fonoti is a beast. Runs so hard, so strong, made some guys miss today, weve got a great one in him.

-its been well documented, but this defense looks to have a totally different composition about them compared to last season. The PSU kid has a MOTOR, as does almost every LB I watched.

-Im ready to claim our d line will be JUST FINE. Peck Is a beast with a motor, Detrick is the same way, Jake Mason is freak size / athleticism wise. Keim will be a problem, and some others. Im confident in this group.

- Morrison looked good on kicks. Every kick i saw was explosive off the foot, made everyone i saw. May not have seen all of his admittedly, but i didnt see amy of the issues he was reportedlyhaving with the grass. Looked great.

-WRs had an up n down day w some drops, but they look great. Brooks Davis may not start opening night, but my pick to perhaps even lead the squad by the end of the season. Explosive, aggressive route runner, and a motor.

-Lawler stood out to me at corner. Looks so much more natural at that position compared to the limited action he saw last season. Also looks stronger and more explosive.

One thing that also stood out to me is leadership and personalities. Defensively, there are some dawgs. Peck and Detrick are vocal leaders who seem to have the respect of the unit. Several of the LBs are the same. PSU kid and geno are all world leaders. Winner mentality. Offensively, Brown is taking that role, Brooks Davis has a lot of that, and I love Drew deck. Championship attitude. We missed that so much last year, it was palpable at practice.

Some kinks to work out and position groups and some new guys still trying to find their footing, but I was impressed with this teams attitude and spirit, especially considering all the new faces and bodies.

You're getting me all fired up for the season!!

I noticed in photos from spring camp that KAY had really bulked up and looked very different from even last year. Of course I couldn't tell how that would translate on the field (especially since the spring game is never televised for us out of staters) but I'm really glad to hear your report about how he's doing. He's still only a redshirt sophomore and if he turns the corner this year, look out! Next year and his senior year could be absolute fire. Here's hoping and praying that Norcross gets the o-line all figured out, to take some of the pressure off of KAY at least early on, and then the Griz would be rolling.

Agreed, I thought Flowers looked the sharpest today. He seems to hit receivers in stride more consistently than the other QBs. On another note, Monte Gillman is lightning fast!

Thank you for the report

I was talking to a buddy about this at practice today. We’re gonna see a lot of bodies between now and conference play rotating around. That said, Eli and Fanoti are the best RB combo in the country IMO. And Wortham is gonna be a beast wherever they put him
I couldn't be higher on Fonoti. I think I'm actually the president of the fan club. Anyone want to be a member? He's got everything you could want in an elite running back.

I took dibs on president of Fonoti's fan club when I claimed this would be his breakout year 🤣 j/k I will gladly be a member of his fan club.

With our RB room (EG, MF, SR JR, HJ) and Wortham, it would be cool to see Wortham under center with a full house backfield and the offense running the triple option.
