This might be the 3 LBs in the country next year, wow. Though I thought that this year with Lewis, but Hill was unbelievable the 2nd half of the year. I believe Welnel will be our 3rd best LB, no knock on him, but Hill would be my pick for the next #37 (because I think it should go to an underclassman)

This doesn't seem like an objective post. You have some special affection for Hill clearly. Obviously, O'Connell deserves the #37, and Welnel is far better than Hill right now.

Britt would have to be insanely good to win the job next year. My guess is we see a dropdown or JuCo transfer starting as the guy.

Why has everyone lost faith in Brown? I think he could certainly be coached up to be a fine starter.

The coaches lost faith in him, evidenced by the fact that he was benched in the 2nd half. I don't ever remember seeing a Griz QB as lost in a game as I consistently saw him all season long. He has all the physical tools, but he is way behind where you'd expect even a backup to be at this point.

He's gonna have to make a huge leap in order to secure the job, because I can guarantee you the staff is gonna bring in at least one transfer this off-season.

That's not it at all. It's just a suggestion that the jersey go back to how it was traditionally awarded for the first 25 years of the tradition: where a young Griz player was chosen by a senior, and he wore it usually for 3 or more years.

It won't be, but it has nothing to do with thinking Hill is more deserving than O'Connel or Welnel. The "tradition" was changed in 2011 because the school started marketing it more heavily and didn't want another Carson Bender situation.

Patterson playing the second half is very telling. Guess we see how KB responds, but I struggle to see him staying. He just might have more success with a fresh start.

If Brown is starting at QB next year, it’ll be for Montana Tech.

For a little fun-

Give me your starters for next year at key positions. At least- QB, 3 receivers, running back, 3 linebackers, 2 corners, 2 safeties. Do a two deep of you can/want. I won’t include lineman in mine because I don’t know a lot about football and I know even less about line play. I know enough to know that both O and D line are absolute key parts of the team. Love to watch our team and love talking about it. This is also not meant to cut on our coaches as I am well aware they know a lot more about football and our personnel than I do. My picks will be forthcoming.

I get what you are sating about the #37 going to a younger guy, but I still disagree that Welnel will be our 3rd best LB next year.

I agree there. I think everyone paying attention was pleasantly surprised how good Soe looked, vs. EWU so I don't think it's too hot of a take.

Well, I'm from Kalispell and know the O'Connell family very well, so yes this is probably a more objective post than what you think it is. I believe the #37 just goes to the best senior anymore, which isn't what its initial intent was, hence why I think Hill is by far our best defensive underclassman from MT. Obviously it's going to go to O'Connell, and he's deserved it, but I think Hill will wear it one year (hopefully more).
