Calling Coach Hauck

One thing admirable about the Hauck years was the Special Team play. UM presently doesn't seem to be interested in that aspect. Thus, the proverbial, "wait till next year" chant.

I keep hearing and reading about Hauck's special team play. Excuse me, were you watching the same game? I remember many real bone head return formations that resulted in being stuffed on the goal line. He was also the head coach and had starters doing special team duties. I remember the resounding chorus of F.. You Hauck from the NEZ. Just saying.

The few of you that are insulting the best coach we have ever had at Montana need to be taken out behind the woodshed and taught a lesson. If we ever want to get back to being a national power we need to get rid of Stitt and hire Coach Hauck. Anything less is pure poppycock plain and simple

tiny g I know you like to be the contrarian here but you do make one good point and that is Bobby Hauck was a good coach during his time with the Griz. He loved the program...he hated the kitties...he won WAY more than he lost...he dominated the Big Sky and the kitties...he led the Griz to playoffs almost every year he coached. But he left the program of his own choice...and I don't begrudge him for making that decision - he took the money and now his family is set for the remainder of his life. He is never coming back to be the coach of the Griz whether he wants to or not. Get off your soap box.

itsy bitsy g --- like your brain...

where were you hiding when the Griz obliterated E Wash and the cats -- the final nail in Ash's coffin?

where were you when the Griz beat SoDak State in the first round -- the only Big Sky team to win?

YOU are plain and simple... in one year Stitt has won as many national championships as Hauck did in all his years

Not to be ghoulish, but is there a bad biopsy you're aware of? I pray he lives longer than the savings from those $300K UNLV contracts.

Sorry lil g, but Don Read was the best coach, and Joe Glenn likely second best. Bobby was a great coach no doubt, but I would list him third behind Don and Joe. I also believe that Stitt will leave a strong legacy here at Montana. His first season was a success and the Griz are trending upward under his leadership.

I know some people wanted Hauck back, and I didn't necessarily 100% disagree with those people, but is there a reason why we are still talking about him?

[spoil]He didn't get hired.[/spoil]

http://www.reviewjournal.com/sports/unlv-football-coach-hauck-gets-raise-make-700000-year

Bobby's salary was $350,000 base with $150,000 bonus yearly so he made $500,000 a year his first four years and was given a raise to $700,000 salary his final year...that's approximatley $2.7 million, not counting other bonuses. Plus he probably was guaranteed all or a portion of his $700,000 salary when he exited UNLV. I think he's sitting pretty good right now and still has many revenue-producing years ahead of him. He didn't produce a bunch of winning seasons but he no-doubt provided a future next egg for his family.
