I agree that Tinks will lead the team on a slow demise. During his playing career, he was always a pretty good player on poor teams, inflating his stats. He never won a championship as a player in high school or college. Barely ever made the semifinals of the BSC tourney. By the time he goes through a recruting class (ie 4 years) they will be Pat Kennedy style.

He beastie, I challenge you to show us a better four-year run than the Griz had during Tinkle's playing career. Look at the records. Teach us. Can you back up your words?

Plus, Wayne played against conference teams that included Idaho, Boise, and Nevada. The competition was tougher in those days.

I say they settle it in a game of 1 on 1.

Beastie vs Tinks

I'll put the rest of the money I ever make on Tinks.

My god, Davy Crockett, come down off the mountain top and take a whiff of reality. Who the hell do you think recruited most of the current Griz players? The answer is Wayne Tinkle.

Sorry, was on vacation.

Check the teams from 90-94. Three of the teams had only single digit losses. The 91 team was 27-4. Three of the teams won league titles, and two went to the NCAA tourney, nothing Wayne would know about as a player, fo sho.

Wayne has no head coaching experience. Who was recruiting those players on Don Holst's teams? and Pat Kendedy? A bunch of Heartless Hoopers.

Only after Larry arrived did they start to land players with heart again, starting with Virgil Mathews. Larry also led a CBA team to a championship, in addition to his accomplishments with the Griz.

Will the Griz play with heart? Did Wayne play with heart? Watch the fall back to mediocrity as Wayne lumbers along. It will be a slow gradual decline. Larry's will and drive will slowly slip away from the program.

Wayne, would however, make a great mayor, which I am predicting.

Oh yeah, check those stats 90-94. :finger: :finger: :finger:

beastie- I disagree and think Wayne will be an outstanding coach. Also, "heartless hoopsters" recruited by Kennedy?? Kennedy recruited Strait, Hasquet, Martin and Dlouhy. I don't think your term "heartless" fits any of these guys nor does it fit Holst recruit Kevin Criswell who is no doubt one of the finest GRIZ hoopsters ever and played with tons of heart. You are way off. :twocents:

Also Wayne does have HC experience, he coached a game when Kennedy was suspended for 1 game. Won it too. :thumb:

I disagree with Beastie on every point but one, and that is that you have to be a little concerned about Tinkle's lack of HC experience. Of course, Jud Heathcote never had HC experience. Neither did Mike Montgomery. Or Stew or Blaine. All of those worked out okay.

Now, Pat Kennedy. He had plenty of coaching experience. And how did that work out again?

I really wanna know if this guy is serious about none of the other recruits having heart?? If you really wanna sit here and tell me that Criswell had no heart, then your head is so far up your ass its unbelievable. Criswell has more heart then most that team combined. Which is why the team sometimes had problems with him. Krysko even said in the paper that Kevin works harder then anyone, and it sometimes makes the other guys mad because he wont stop working hard. Nothing against Virgil, or any of the other guys, but if they all had that heart, beating nevada wouldnt of been the highlight of our season.

Beastie,

Go directly to the showers. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.00.
Place head under cold water and shake it. Take a deep breath. You will be OK.

The facts are:

In Tinkle’s freshman season, the Griz went 21-11.

In Tinkle’s sophomore season, the Griz went 18-11.

In Tinkle’s junior season, the Griz went 18-11 again.

In Tinkle’s senior season, the Griz went 20-11.

In Tinkle’s four seasons of play, the Griz went 77-44. (.636 winning percentage)

In Krystkowiak’s four seasons of play, the Griz won exactly as many conference championships as during Tinkle’s career (zero), and similarly went 83-36 (.697 winning percentage).

Beastie, if Tinkle played on poor teams, you must agree that Krystko played on poor teams, too (averaged about one win per year more than Tinkle’s teams)?

So if you think Krystkowiak and Tinkle played on poor teams (though I respectfully disagree with you), and it didn't seem to effect Krystko's coaching ability negatively, why would it have an adverse impact on Tinkle's coaching ability?

Please explain. Teach us.

Beastie obviously has an agenda that has nothing to do with Tinks ability as a player, coach, recruiter, et al. I suspect he had a crush on Lisa and still has not gotten over the fact she didn't even know he existed, and chose Wayne.

Beastie, get some professional help. :thumb:
