FWIW, I asked Baer and Rosenbach about Justin switching to CB.

Great article, thank you.

Sorry- don’t know how to link on here our discussion ....but interesting that we were discussing this end of Jan/Feb coming into spring ball:

The Griz have a stable full of WR’s. Can Bobby turn one into another premier DB? Who would be the best fit. Who would make the change?

“Who realistically has the ability to switch over to CB during spring ball and be able to contribute by this fall as we obviously have an immediate need? CB takes a lot of technique/quickness and not all receivers have the ability/work ethic/physical toughness to play corner.

To me, Justin Calhoun could be an all conference corner and help the team the most at corner, but I doubt he would make that move for the team. He was an awesome high school corner against big time talent and seems to have the athletic part needed.

Who else?”

Calhoun has made that move for the team. And I agree he could be a great corner.

It has been discussed on this board before a few times about what people thought about Justin possibly playing corner. I was one of the ones ALL for it. I am glad it's coming to fruition. They will still have some plays on O for him as well, he gets his cake and he gets to it too!

I think this change is best team, especially with Sulser coming in!

Agreed. I think the team just got better, quickly. :thumb:

The read on Calhoun has always been that he has good feet, good hips and a good explosion off first step. Those are great CB traits. He is an athlete and he will most likely be our best CB by mid season. He's also a very smart player. I think with JLM and Sulser the under 6 foot WR will be pretty solid. Then with Curran, Akem, Flowers, Toure and Roberts. That WR group is nasty. Great move for the team and really for Justin too!

I assume the brother is slated to start at RB?

Not currently. Bobby tends to reward spring camp success / carry over. So right now the guys that got the carries in the spring, Eastwood, Lee, and Green are up. I'd assume that Calhoun will work his way back in though.

& wasn't it Curran who had the "drops" in the Bozeman game ? Maybe they selected wrong CB ?

Curran is the best WR on the team. no chance he was going anywhere, although he would have done it because he is a leader. should be a captain this year

Justin Calhoun happy to be back "on the dark side"

The fact Justin went to the coaches and offered to help on that side makes him one of my faves. That is awesome team play. Nice work!
