Bye Week -

Does a bye week help or hurt the Griz against Sac State? Some fear the Griz come out cold and not in synch. I think the extra prep time and week off will help. Possibly some players that are dinged up have a little time to get healthier. I predict the Griz have a strong first quarter and are up by 14 by the start of the second quarter.

However the first quarter ends, it will have very little to do with whether Montana had a bye the week before.

Bobby's teams were 5-1* coming off of a bye week in his first stint, and 0-1 so far in his second.

So he's 5-1 after bye weeks at home, and 0-1 after bye weeks away from home.

History is kind of a mixed bag on this one, considering the overall record is really good, but he was winless away from home after a bye week. That one loss was also on our 2004 team, so it wasn't like it was one of our worse teams during his first run.

It seems to me that teams tend to play better after getting an extra week of practice and film, regardless of who they are. However, it seems that whatever benefit/letdown is that comes after having a bye, the better team tends to win, anyways.

*Technically our bye in 2008 was the first week of the season, then we went down to Cal Poly after an extra week of "camp" to play them, so I didn't count that in these numbers.

This team seems different in that focus doesn’t seem to be a problem. Personally I think this bye week came at the perfect time. Dings getting healed up, catching up on studies, and able to watch the next team on the schedule play and beat msu. I think this team will be ready to roll....

Go Griz!

Speaking of bye week....Eastern has a bye week prior to our meeting on 10/26. I think they are going to be more dangerous than we give them credit for. I believe, but don’t know for sure, one reason for their poor showing has been a lot of injuries to starters. If this is the case and some of them are back it could be a real Donnybrook. But first SacSt. GO GRIZ

I watched their game against UNC last night. UNC looks like it’s still recruiting D-II level talent...ooffff...
