Butte's Cody Carigger Commits to Oregon

ilovethecats....it doesn't sound like you are very well grounded in spiritual matters. Aren't you the ding bat that was going to invent a religion to make lots of money? You may be better served by sticking to matters of the Big Sky Conference that involve the Bobcat football team that actually had a good season last year.

now name calling? wwjd....?

and no, i wasn't going to start a religion. i said that i should because there are many people who have...and did make a lot of money. there are some filthy rich mormons out there. how about the religious "ding-bat" that predicted the world would end last month....and now in october? people donate millions of dolars to that guy all the time. some peoples gods let them sleep with 10 wives. other peoples gods tell people to kill americans.

mine tells me to be a good guy and not be a broken record. ironically, i'm being one in this very thread. apologies.

congrats to carigger. i think he's gonna tear things up in the pac...

my god won't let me type out your name - lightning would strike me on the spot - but totally agree with you about organized religion. :thumb: all organized religions are money making propositions. huge difference between religion and faith.

now back to the topic at hand - Good luck to Cody at Oregon!

funny, a lot of your guys' gods won't let them type my name either! it's not even the religion i have a problem with. i can respect a person having a faith. it's the people who treat this faith as fact....and act like they KNOW with 100% certainty that there is a god....and only one god. it's especially interesting that christianity is such a small religion throughout the world, and i'm supposed to believe that people all over from other countries are going to burn for eternity because their god isn't the one and only.....

i'll leave it alone. i derailed this thread and i hate that. my bad....

Isn't that kind of what they all do, ask for more money and more money and more.

Exactly! :thumb:

Wow to bad this post got hi-jacked by two people talking about their gods. This kid is going to one of the best football programs in the country congrats. Now back to the god thing. Religion is nothing more than a crutch for people who are to insecure to accept that when you die simply stated you DIE. We laugh & make fun of the the Greeks & Romans for worshiping their gods yet we do the same thing in modern times. We worship a god that is based soley on people believing even though the proof shows otherwise. Just saying. Please keep your god speak for other boards.

Great for him and congrats. Who wouldn't want to go play for a team that competed in the national championship game the prior year, or even to any top Pac-10 school, if one had a scholarhip opportunity.

God is a concept. A ridiculous one at that.

No, I don't believe in Santa, the Easter bunny (easter was a pagan holiday long before it was a christian holiday, look it up) or the tooth fairy either!

It is awesome to see a Montana kid get an opportunity with one of the top programs in the country.

Just drop the religion stuff. People get to worked up and emotional over it and tend to never completely agree. I respect people's beliefs not to believe in God. Just don't mock my faith in believing their is a God, especially on a message board. It's not just a part of my beliefs, its a part of my heritage and upbringing and I take the mocking of that personal. Let's drop it.

I'll bet the farm we were put here by UFO's to restock the place after the asteroid wiped out the dinosaurs... this place (planet) is just one big lab experiment. Let's put the white ones here, the black ones here, the yellow ones here, the red ones here... and see what happens in 10-20,000 years.

And P.S. Just to stay on topic... Congrats to Cody. Just don't take any social advice from the Thomas brothers.

Man, finally I find someone that believes that we were probably put on here by aliens too! I could get into great detail to almost exactly what I think happened, but I won't. I don't want the christians attacking me. lol

Butte (Mont.) defensive end Cody Carriger went from unknown to prized Oregon commit in no time. The 6-foot-7, 230 pound prospect had 11 verbal offers from Washington, Montana, Harvard, Oregon State and Army among others. According to his father, Rick Carriger, the decision came down to Oregon and Washington for his commitment.

"He really liked coach Jerry Azzinaro a lot at Oregon," Carriger said. "I'm a strong believer as a parent in letting your kids make their own decision so I support his choice. I know it was a hard decision for him to make but Oregon just stood out to him."

His father has coached for 26 years and currently spends his time watching his children, including Cody. As a person familiar with football he describes Cody as a "freakish" athlete on the gridiron.

"He ran a 11.25 100-meter dash time this year," he said. "I know if he wasn't 6-foot-7 he'd get out of the blocks faster and crush that time. He's also real slim right now and has virtually no fat on his body. I'm certain they won't have a problem getting him up to 270 pounds or more in college. He also recorded a 35-inch vertical on a bad ankle recently."

Carriger has the ability to play on either side of the ball but his father said Oregon wants him on defense.

"They want him to play the 'drop end' position as they call it," he said. "I think that would be a great position for him at Oregon and I know he's excited. They have been recruiting him since he was a sophomore so they have been high on his list for a while. They did a good job recruiting him and stayed in touch either by mail or phone every week."

His father noted there were no formal plans for a decision timeline but said his son just knew after the recent visit to Eugene.

They do not plan to take any other trips other than their official visit to Oregon this Fall. His father also said he is a big believer in giving your word and sticking to it, he expects Cody to remain solid despite any new offers.
