Butte High vs Bozeman tomorrow night

Just another beat down by the Hawks. This team is stacked.

Completely stacked from what I've seen. I would love to see some of the schools down here (LB Poly; Edison; Mater Dei) square off with the the best in Montana. I know that these teams have some talent, but it would be awesome to see them get some "treatment."

I went down on the field tonight after the game with my friend Will, to say hi to his son Chris who's a starting CB for the Hawks. Good lord they are making some big kids coming out of high school. Dallas Cook from Butte looks like he's 300lbs and he's a QB. Bozeman is going to be very hard to beat in the playoff. Plus, they don't have to leave home.

he verbally committed to the griz MONTHS AGO

I hate to have to call you out but in the recruiting thread it says Ben Weyer has committed. I'm talking about Will Weyer. Not sure if they're related but they both seem like great athletes.

if it says that it's a mistake Ben already plays for Montana. His brother Will verbaled

Will is going to the Zoo. The whole family are griz. Nice pick up for the griz. Oh, and Will is big as hell too. I'd hate to have to feed those kids. It would really cut into the coors light budget.

OK. I'm totally fvcking with you. My original comment wasn't meant to be taken on by a Griz fan. That was just smartass me being smartass me. :thumb:

I got to see some good QBs tonight -- Weyer and Cook on the computer and then live action in a local conference title game, I watched a kid named Luton from Marysville, WA. Luton committed to Idaho this week. I'm no evaluator of high school talent, but I think all three QBs will have nice college careers....and wow, big kids too. The local kid is 6'6" and I'd guess 220 or so, and I think Weyer is about 6'5" and 230...and holy crap, Cook is a big 'un. Luton's team is a run first offense (I think he threw fewer than 10 passes tonight) but the kid looks really smooth in the pocket and is accurate. I thought Cook showed a lot of heart and toughness...but I agree with previous posts about Bozeman -- that team is loaded. And Weyer seems to have plenty of arm too.

Bozeman is definitely loaded. Weyer has a great arm but footwork and speed is not here . He will fit good into a pocket style passer offense.

defense is the difference...Hawks have some, Dogs have none

Totally agree, defense was the difference...Hawks are one of the best (if not the) defenses, and Dogs are one of the very worst defenses in Class AA, and there are 14 teams in AA.

Butte returned virtually NOBODY off their championships defense from 2012. (Which was a middle of the road defense).

Griz need to start recruiting the Bozeman QB hard. Kid's a TD machine.

Weyer is great, I like him.

Butte QB is a TD machine. This season he set the Montana record for single season passing TD's at 39. He also set the Montana single season passing yardage record with over 3,900 yds. He had the best season in Montana history.

I posted on egriz before (at the beginning of season, and more recetly like last week or so) how big Cook has gotten. I first mentioned how he looked like a Griz DE, and then I mentioned more recently how he was bigger than former cat Zach Minter. The broadcaster on the Bozeman online broadcast said, "Cook looks like a Linebacker, an NFL Linebacker." He was a beast to tackle this year.

Thanks for the kind words on Cook, I agree he has shown a lot of heart and toughness--all year. He's been wearing a boot on his foot (while not playing or practicing) for much of the season that not a lot of people know about. On a side note, he lost 4 out of 5 offensive lineman from last years championship squad.

Bozeman is loaded, and clearly the best team in the state, BY FAR.
