Butte High QB

Stats that I were able to come up with are:

Passing- 98-162-4 interceptions. 1557 yards, 14 tds
Rushing- 34 carries for 282 yards and 3 tds

Not calling him the messiah but pretty good stats

havgrizfan, I am also from Havre and watched Gary play a lot while he was growing up. Even his head coach in high school joked about how his stats made him look much better because of the players he had. I'll agree he got much better while at Carroll. But while he was at Carrolll they were mostly successful because of their run game and defense.

I guess we need to post some of the Sports Illustrated quotes from Cat fans a couple years ago since we are throwing stones.

who's throwing stones? just pointing out that he's a mobile qb and many here aren't fans of that.....

He said it at their awards banquet in front of everyone. Joked that statistically Gary was the best Havre QB. But that other QB's such as Matt Kegel would have crushed his stats with the weapons Gary had.

Yeah, well I was at that banquet and I don't remember that at all, especially since Purcell didn't even live in Havre when Matt played for the Ponies, but whatever. I'll stand by my original statement, If the kid this thread was started about is being compared to Gary, that's a huge compliment. Sounds like you have an axe to grind. Carry on.

What I have heard from people at Butte High, Butte Central and Anaconda is that the kid is a good player and kid - the dad is the problem.

Anyone get a chance to watch Dallas Cook, Butte High QB, play this year? Just curious if anyone thinks he could play for the Griz one day. He is setting records this year and isn't even a senior yet.

So this next messiah, does he do this single-handedly or is it really a TEAM effort? :coffee:

The kid is more gracious in the news story, giving much credit to his fellow players.

this..... having went to school with the kid's mom from K-12 i agree with your statement.... the kid will be a stud wherever he ends up .... as long as dad isn't involved in the mix....

3 schools in 3 years, this sounds like a Micah Downs or Brian "Bison Dealy" Williams saga.

Yup, I think we got 2 of em, one should be back from mission for next year and the other is just starting his mission.

I wouldn't get too hung up on Dallas Cook going to a school in Montana. His dad has his sights set on much bigger schools. I do think he would be a good fit for either Montana or Montana State. He is very athletic and has a ton of growth potential for becoming a great football player. He is only scratching the surface with his abilities so far.

Yeah ask Coach Klaboe about Cook's dad. When Billings West was in Butte to play the Bulldogs, Klaboe was about to go up into the stands but had to be restrained by a couple of his assistant coaches. They stopped the game until Butte High's AD went up to tell the dad to shut-up. Klaboe is about as good a guy as you will find, so it must have taken quite a bit for this guy to make his blood boil.

I will never understand parents like that. He's not doing his son any favors, and I guarantee his son is embarrassed as hell by his actions.

I think you can throw Deer Lodge in there too.

Heard pretty much the same myself about the dad. Haven't seen the kid play yet but heard he is amazing.

I have met cooks dad and only thing that would ever hold Dallas back is himself if you call holding your son back by sending game tape to different colleges outside of the state and breaking film down with him in your down time and looking for different football camps so you can get your kids name out there instead of just settling for the griz or cats like most parents in montana do where their kids better be nothing but extraordinary to get to the next level is holding him back then what do you call pushing your kid? And from what I have heard the griz have not even sent him any letter of interest or anything. Atleast the cats know how to find talent on the football field and outside instead of scouting rapists

Geez, Mr. Cook, no need to be so defensive.
