An enterprising reporter can always call the player and ask him. Otherwise HIPAA absolutely protects your right to control your health status and information. The coach is wise to keep his mouth shut.

After reading the article, one thing seems clear. Don't release any information about injuries and you will be safe from violating anything other than some fans' belief in their right know.

HIPPA imposes restrictions much like the NCAA. "Here kid, have a hot dog," and 15 wins are erased from a school record, just to make sure that the 99 kids that didn't get the hot dog are suitably punished.

The Privacy Rule

Whether it is a HIPPA issue or not, Stitt has decided, for whatever reason, not to discuss injuries....why should people care...it is not information Silvertip or most anyone else on egriz needs to have. The transparency on injuries argument is ridiculous....

If Burke's career is done, which would be unfortunate, it may be nice to say something about his time as a Griz and acknowledge the concussion issue. Just verify it wasn't disciplinary or grades related. Seems like the classy thing to do. Hopefully Burke is able to return at some point.

seriously? I hope that's not the case. Obviously health comes first but Ryan is a guy I have high hopes for in this offense. Great kid too, comes from a real estate family so I may be a little biased. :thumb:

Mary Burke-Orizzoti has done well for herself in Butte and elsewhere I know that much (Realtor and Developer) I know the family well, as Mick (who has famly relations to Ryan) recruited Ryan to the Griz.

Mazolinni and Rainey are both reporting on twitter that Burke suffered his 5th concussion during the NAU game and is done (at least) for the season.....that sucks.

Unfortunately fans will not be able to see Burke in action for this Saturday's game. The wide receiver has been held out of action after suffering a concussion against Northern Arizona several weeks ago, and Burke confirmed that he will miss the remainder of the season. It's the fifth diagnosed concussion for Burke. The junior is unsure if he'll ever return to the field for Montana, but rest assured even if he doesn't the standout will continue to make a big difference and make Montana Grizzly fans proud.

Burke should be done, his brain can do so much good in his future outside of football (as he has already shown with class and integrity) it isn't worth risking more damage at this point. Thanks to him for all he has done on and off the field. A True Griz.
