BSC POW is ......

Okay, through my maroon colored glasses, I figured Kevin Criswell would have been named Big Sky Conference player of the week. That isn't because of the dunk, of course. Kevin averaged 21.3 points a game last week in leading the Griz to a 2 - 1 record.

But, ISU guard David Schroeder won the POW averaging 25 points a game. ISU also went 2 - 1, but one game was in a non-conference game, and ISU couldn't win the big important game needed to get into the tournament.

I still think Criswell should have been POW of BSC.

I certainly agree. I'd even throw Hasquet into the running. And, come to think of it, I can't remember any Griz player being named POW all season, certainly not many. Once reason, I suspect is that there are few over-arching ball-hogging heros on the team as evidenced by the tremendous # of assists and teamwork.

Don't even get me started on the method the BSC uses to select the Player of the Week. I kept trying to figure out how they came up with some of the selections they do, after pounding my head against the wall, I decided to call and ask them.

The answer I got reminded me why most bozeone people don't miss Doug Fullerton one bit. They have no method of picking POW. The schools can each nominate a player. The BSC then gets together whomever happens to be there at the time and arbitrarily picks one. They do not discuss who played who, where, etc. In fact, they as much as admitted they don't spend a whole lot of time on it at all, they look at the names pick one and that is it, real short and sweet.

Here's the official bracket release from the Big Sky. How many typos and mistakes can you find?

This is really lame and if they aren't going to put the proper effort into handling this stuff, they shouldn't try.

Doug Fullerton almost killed MSU athletics and I'm glad he's gone from here. My mom also had him for geometry class when she was in high school and she's hated math ever since. I feel like there are several people every week who are overlooked for POW. Criswell had an outstanding week and still didn't win? I don't get the Big Sky administration at all sometimes.
