They almost always win. They participate in all the sports and year in and year out have terrific distance teams. Because track and CC essentially both have two seasons each, you can dominate the award with strong distance teams.

They won because this guy might get upset if they lost.

True dat and congrats NAU. But I just have to say: how dare NAU use a depiction of a real human being, with real feelings! Where are the human rights experts? Where are the lawsuits by the NCAA? Oh, the humanity!

As usual :)

NAU has a well-rounded athletic department, and the only BSC school that can compete nationally in a widely-competed sport, taking 2nd nationally in men's cross-country.

The 7100 foot altitude that they train in just might have something to do with consistent endurance strength---an obvious component/advantage of x-country regimens and its athletes.... :)

Yup. Finished in the top 3-4 for every sport but golf, womens basketball and (I think) one of the tennis teams. Lumberjacks athletics are at least competitive in most sports and dominant in distance running.

Too bad support is sorely lacking and the community and much of the student body is indifferent to this.

Mt. Jack,

Do you think the new logo, featuring a marauding ass rapist, with help or hurt that cause?

Serious question.

I think the new school mascot logo will have no effect with the on-field results or getting butts in seats.

Fixing a problem that wasn't broken? Or maybe being willing to try to be proactive? Or possibly somewhere in between on part of the athletics department?

I preferred the original cartoon-y Louie Lumberjack. I don't mind new the ax logo.
