Brzeczhek: drop down QB

Griz1 said:
He reminds me of a faster Drew Miller. He appears to be very accurate and makes the difficult throws which appear to be very catchable. His arm doesn't look extremely strong but these highlights were a couple of years ago and he certainly has gotten stronger and bigger since then. Dave's arm wasn't very strong either but his smarts, leadership skills and the will to win made him a legend in Montana football. I am anxious to see him and hope he brings all these attributes to the table. (And no I am not saying he is the next coming of Dave)

That being said, good luck to all the quarterbacks, and may the person best equipped for the position emerge. There is nothing like good competition to get the best out of each player and that is what has led to the success of the Grizzly program for many years.

That is a good point on Dave. You can overcome that with smarts/rolling out/finding angles. I just noticed he floats the ball a lot and if that was a couple years ago he can improve on it (4 years left).

While I get the drooling over a potential drop down I think it's going to be real tough for this kid to get ramped up and make a serious run at starting this year - unless the dude is a total gamer.

We've seen lots of years and over lots of players it takes a good season for many guys to adapt and play at their best potential.

His highlight reel is nice, but it's no better than SSH, McKinneys, or Kemps - and that was 2 years ago vs high school opponents (just like SSH/McKinney/Kemps were). I'm going to withhold any judgement that this guy is some sort of savior until I see it consistently on the field. At this point getting him ramped up to compete and play for this season at a high level is going to be a major challenge.

Time will tell, but considering knowledge of the system, the receivers, the coaches, and having watched a lot more film and knowing a lot more of what to expect about his season's opposing teams - I think our best QB was already on the roster before this transfer. That could change, but I don't see it happening right away.

You'd pick your ass too, if your arms could reach it around your belly.

You must find some real interesting ways to pick your ass. Why the hell would anyone reach around their belly? Unless of course you were picking someone elses ass. Is that what you were getting confused by? Don't push you lifestyle on us buddy. Its a free country and all and I won't interfere with your right to live your life but stop always shoving your sexuality in our faces.

I think "it" is either a clown or a weiner.

Did he have any scholarship offers out of high school?

Well, it looks like we add another Qb to the present list that will out preform the blackjesus. This guy actually adjusts his passes to were the reciever is going, unlike delirious who hopes the receiver can adjust to were they both think the pass might be going? :D

Did anyone else notice on the first film at about the 0:35 mark? I think #5 on the kitty team was the player doing the face plant after he got smoked? At least it sure looked like a pre-season all conf. fuller type face plant to me.

You still butt-hurt cuz "Black Jesus" came into your stadium and beat the jizz as a Freshman? :D

I assumed that.

I was wondering more if he was considered a top tier FCS recruit with offers from schools like NAU and/or Weber who wanted to take a shot at the big time, or if he is considered a really smart kid who chose Stanford for academics but was viewed as more of a D-II/NAIA QB with regards to ability.

Not trying to talk down about the kid, just wondering what schools offered him scholarships out of high school.

Also, is it known if he's on scholarship or a walk on at UM?

I don't see this kid taking the starting spot but it will be nice to have some depth and another future star. Let the battle begin! :thumb:

Scout and Rivals did not have him "ranked" at all. Scout listed his schools of interest as Bowling Green, Brown, Harvard, N. Colorado, Northern Illinois but says none had offered.

The real question is... how long will it take the average eGrizzer to spell & pronounce "he whose name looks like it was typed with my nose?"

This is the real question. Anticipate a nickname soon. Adam B? Brr it's cold in here? (perfect come playoff time!)

Well... How about 1. Beiber (JJ) 2. Hyphenated (Smithwick-Hann) 3. Shiney Bobble (McKinney) 4. Viagra (Gustafson) and 5. Gesundheit (Brzeczhek)?
Shades of Matt Szczur! :)

Seems like this crowd did not notice that he was an all-state punter, at one time! A punter that can run, and pass can make a mess of defensive. Boise State, a couple of years ago, ran some very big plays against the big teams with such a guy.

I dont recall ur boy doing anything special in that game. I do remember our boys fumbling the ball 3 times inside the 10. I guess we had to give you a pay back after you handed us the 97 game.

As for the Stanford kid. I see a lot of potential. My only concern is how often growler is wrong and he has given a strong endorsement for this kid. Lets hope he is not wrong this time. I know some brilliant people that did not make it into Stanford. I like it when the QB has that kind of brain power.

Everyone is assuming he is being brought in to play qb. I see he was First team punter....maybe he's been brought in to fit that role?

Who'd ever have thought that a transfer from Stanford would be considered a "drop down"? I remember when the Indians and Griz were basically the patsy team for stronger programs and even marine bases...how times have changed.
