Brothers

The Goicoechea, Fitzgerald, and Colter brothers were solid players in the 90's and early 2000's

All but the oldest Goicoechea have a national championship ring.
Great Columbus connections; Greg and John Fitzgerald both played for the Cougars and the Colter's mom was a Columbus girl.

Another brother team is the Nguyens.

Good point. I'd wonder if we are talking about pure production numbers or other just wins? I'd say Nguyens did well production wise, although some on here didn't like the fumbles :D

Oh, did they fumble on occasion?
Has anyone ever brought that up around here?

Solid contribution.

my point exactly!

Man, in looking at that list, we've had some AWESOME sets of brothers play for us....we are lucky indeed...

Brandon & Loren Utterback?
Although, wasn't one of their careers cut short by injury? That was in my hazy days as a student, so forgive me if I'm "mis-remembering".

John Nguyen lost zero (0) fumbles in his sophomore, junior and senior years. Feel free to name any starting Griz running back, ever, who didn't lose a fumble for his last 3 years, let alone somewhere who also returned punts and kicks for several years.

Probably the best qb brothers....maybe the only ones.

Shann & Marty Mornhinweg

Marty pretty much set the modern expectations of what we expect in a Griz qb, shattering most records in his two years here.

Oh, I'm with ya, trust me. I was just "fondly" (sarcastically) remembering the hotly contested debates of yesteryear! I believe both the Nguyens were great Grizzlies. Under-appreciated and underutilized!

Oh, I'm not disagreeing with you at all. I'm making fun of those that kept saying they fumbled all the time. Was a tongue in cheek shot at them.

Sure. Not counting muffed punt receptions and fumbles not lost.

Yes, I understood your humor. Was just providing some facts, as they make the crap you referred to all the more silly.

Another set of brothers. The Reynolds. Chase's little brother played briefly.

If a muffed punt or fumble is not lost to the other team, it doesn't matter and it doesn't hurt the team. Just like a bad pass dropped by a defender doesn't count as an interception. I can just see the comment. Our QB threw 5 interceptions that were dropped by the other team. LOL.

Yeah, not exactly. Muffed punts typically result in zero or negative return yards. That doesn't exactly help the team. It isn't benign as you would like us to believe.

Or punts that you don't field that bounce 20 yards downfield...
