Bringing Maroon to Cal Poly?

The Alaska Air flight from Missoula to Seattle to SLO had a number of UM fans and a couple of athletic dept people this morning. Inland marine layer over airport when we arrived, but it cleared quickly. 70's in SLO and 90's in Paso Robles.

Eric Manzenariz (sp), former d-lineman and GF high, on plane with his family. He live-in Seattle area now. The owners of some Missoula downtown establishments. One of the top posters on egriz and his wife.

Great wine tasting this afternoon, followed by a great party at a winery owned by my buddy.

Team charter will arrive fairly late tomorrow. They must not be having a Fri. afternoon practice here.

SloStang out of town on business.

Yes, we have our maroon, the 4 of us.

Four driving up 101. Haven't been up the Coast since the fires. Worth the trip for clams n chips in Pismo.

Five making the drive down from Bay Area, four coming up from SoCal. Clam chowder at Splash Cafe, dinner at McClintock's, yum. Griz win .. even better!

If anyone stops off in Solvang for that goddamn soup, I'm putting them on ignore. :x

Anderson's Split Pea is in Buellton, not Solvang. Solvang/Santa Ynez has a great hotel and casino.

I was talking about the Denny's in Solvang. JK. You're right, LA! I'm sure my mind is using a defense mechanism to block the name of that town. Most traumatic thing my parents ever did to me was make me eat that crap.

I'm bummed I won't be able to make it this year. We were looking forward to the Olive Garden out on Los Osos for some of the best fettucine alfredo this side of Old Napoli. For those coming from out of state who want to sample some great Latin food, also check out the Chipotle for a real taste of Mexico rarely available outside of Texas.

PS: Ursa, that Denny's has some great homestyle breakfast options for Sunday morning. They have a thing called the Great Slam that everyone should try when in town. If anyone wants more restaurant recommendations, feel free to PM me.

When I first saw the read the thread title I was a little jealous someone else was bringing Ms. Maroon to the CPSLO game. Then Mrs. Bigdog reminded me that no one in their right mind wanted to be seen with me @ a Griz game. She only goes if she can sit it the box seats where they have the beer & wine.

That close to the ocean, how could one avoid a pilgrimage to Red Lobster? You’re right, she thinks that’s too good for me.

Great point. It's like my old Italian great-grandmother used to say" "When in Rome ... eat at Romano's Macaroni Grill."

Saw a lot of Griz fans out wine tasting yesterday. Some of the Tilleman family (Havre) were out, including one who had played d-line for Wash St. He was wearing Griz gear.

We got to do some barrel tasting at 2 places, where we had some connection to the owners. Even did some blending with the owner at one place, right out of the barrels. Tasted brand new "juice" too, in various phases of ferment, including one pure juice that had fermented for another a day.

Huge fun. A great day.

The locals who follow CP football are not optimistic about their team.
