Bringing College Gameday to Cat/Griz

This is so annoying. The GameDay thing gets brought up every year. This will NEVER happen. So many delusional Griz fans, its ridiculous. ESPN is a business.....what type of revenue/ratings would they generate doing a 1-AA/FCS game? They would probably lose money and have advertisers back out for doing something so stupid.

Wake up Griz Nation.....I'm a Griz fan like most on here, but there are times when its embarrassing to be a part of this fan base. This is one of them.
It's almost happened before. ...you underestimate. Just because the show is here dies not mean it's all about fcs. It would still not really talk about fcs...but espn could easy make a story out if it. Plus many espn people have interest in this university

I still want to know about this.

It went like this...

Producer: Hey we should go to Missoula Montana to do College Gameday for the FCS playoffs.
Chris Fowler: Huh?
Kirk Herbstreet: Doesn't Joe Montana's kid go there?
Desmond Howard: They are the team that beat the team that beat Michigan.
Lee Corso: You want me to go to Montana in December... Go Fvck yourself.
Producer: Ok we will go to Tuscaloosa instead.
thank you for finally clearing that up for us! hahahaha

Didn't Gameday happen at Harvard/Yale a couple years ago? Seems like they were at a SWAC location at some point too..

According to Wikipedia, college gameday has went down and aired the show at the FCS Hampton vs Florida A&M game, FCS Southern University vs Grambling State game, and Division III Amherst at Williams game...for them having them do another FCS game between two solid teams like Montana State and Montana is not out of question for everyone that thinks this whole thing is unrealistic.

When state college and UM become Division 1, then it may be realistic. Otherwise, enjoy dreaming....
This is pretty old schtick, Spanky. We all know how you feel about "moving up" and such, but that should have nothing to do with this topic.

68....it has a great deal to do with the topic. Others commented about how we are regarded as a Division2 program. In my view, we compete in football in a sub group which is below Division1..unfortunate when we could do very well against regional true Division 1 opponents such as Wyoming, Washington State, Utah State, Utah rather than the rag tag schools we compete against. Further, although we are Division1 in other sports, some think UM is a Division2 school in all sports. Finally, 68, I will continue to express my opinion, although I realize our status as a FCS school isn't going to change.

Last I was told by UM admin, the App. St. game next year is set for Friday, Aug. 30. So if that happens I doubt GameDay would do a Friday show on the first weekend of the college season, and even if the game is Saturday, NO WAY GameDay comes to Missoula on opening weekend.

Which, if true, means that it'll be the first bona fide night game at Wa-Griz...(the last quarter of this November's Katz game doesn't count)

App State, Friday Night Game, Labor Day weekend - Haslam is going to be a busy boy getting the extra 4,000 seats put in for this game (plus improved press facilities for ESPN) before the end of August.

Never gonna happen, ESPN is a business and they air what people in the majority want to see such as SEC, Big 10, Pac 12 etc.

This is beating a dead horse, but I agree. At the App-Montana game I was thinking how cool it would be to have Gameday there. If they won't cover that matchup, then there is no FCS game that will bring them. ESPN doesn't give a damn about our favorite football division and has dumped all FCS coverage to ESPN3. So I get to watch the App-Montana replay on my iPad instead of the 60" plasma. Sucks.

We had to go to a sports bar in Missoula to watch the game because hardly any Internet carriers offer ESPN3, including mine. In the bar it was on ESPN gameplan via Directv, which still sucked because they didn't broadcast in HD. Next time I'm definetly going to travel to Boone to watch. Good luck to App St the rest of the way, hoping that Citadel loss was a bump in the road. Maybe see you all in December!
