So...here's a brief history lesson for people who have forgotten where we were at this point last season.
We started the season 2-2 with losses @Tenn and a blowout loss @Sac State where our QB threw 3 INTs, and we couldn't stop the run (sound familiar?)
For our QB play at this point last year JJ was:
63/113 (55.8%), 648yds, 5tds, 5ints.. a 109.67 efficiency rating.
He had 29 carries for 224yds and 1td.
So total yards 872, 6tds, and 5 turnovers.
Now lets fast forward a year..we are 2-2 with a loss @App and a very disappointing loss to NAU at home.
Our QB so far is
80/121 (66.1%), 815yds, 6tds, 7ints - 127.49 efficiency rating.
He's carried the ball 40 times for 192yds and 3tds.
Total yards, 1007, 9tds and 7 turnovers.
In the game against NAU TM was 20/34, 199yds and 3 ints.
In JJ's 4th start against Sac State, he was 9/19, 148yds, 1td and 3 ints.
At the same time last year we had horrible problems... we just finished barely beating EWU at home where we threw for a whopping 34 yards.. and then got bitchslapped by SAC STATE the next game where our QB threw 3 ints. This year we pass for 95 yards against Liberty, then get smacked down by NAU in the 2nd half and our QB throws 3 ints.
Last year there was a lot of talk about how JJ couldn't throw downfield (everything was a popup, no arm strength). This year there's a lot of talk about how TM can't throw the long ball accurately.
Now what does this all mean? It means calm the fuck down people! There is still time for things to turn around. Are there issues? Hell yes there are issues. Our OLine looked god awful in the 2nd half. Our QB threw 3 ints, the fumbles were killers, we took our foot off the gas after getting a lead and never could find the gas pedal again, our defense couldn't stop NAU's run game at all in the 2nd half (Much like the Sac game last year), and our safety play..well..not even sure wtf to say about that.
Lets hope we have a similar turn around this year...now if we go into EWU and get blasted then struggle with UNC.. then yeah, it may be time to panic. I don't think that will happen though.
