I am not saying there aren't idiots. Both UM and MSU have them (whether you want to admit it or not) Chitown and Richard Cranium come to mind. It is too bad that these people feel they need to act this way but it is not something you or I can control. That is my point, it gets old hearing you guys whine about it. :twocents:

Hey MM7cat, I have never cussed or said offensive things at a sporting event. Just this year i did say crap and i appologized to the lady in fron of me and she replied "thats F***ing ok i say worse". But i will say you are a red neck, pencil neck, country bumpkin geek, tho.

You are right, you don't say S**T at the games. You hide in your little corner hoping that nobody notices you. Then after the game you come on here and act like a tough guy. Now why don't you go back to talkin crap about our recruits and what type of families they come from. Cause you know, if you are black that must mean you come from the ghetto, right? :loser:

Call me old-fashioned, but I just don't believe the F-bomb should be used around children.

And besides, if you can't come up with anything more creative than "f the Griz", perhaps you just shouldn't bother.

There was more than that.

I was just discussing this with my girlfriend. I kind of hate that 'f*** the bobcats go Griz go" and vice versa are the two main cheers in the rivalry. Can't we just mix "Beat...the...CATS" and "Beat...the...GRIZ" into our fight songs? I went to the ND/USC game this year and this is what they did and it sounded a helluva lot better. Plus the whole crowd can get into it.

Sure. I'd love for everyone to start that instead. Any ideas on how to change it?

Best would be with the band or cheerleaders. I heard the cheerleaders at the lady griz game today doing a weak beat the cats. the best way would be to incorporate into a band thing so the whole stadium can hear it and follow along.

Kind of like trying to stop waves from hitting the beach

What the drunken, cursing fans need to recognize is that their classless cheers have the exact opposite effect of what they are trying to accomplish: that being, they take the rest of the crowd completely out of the game. When a cheer like that starts, everyone with half a brain and some level of decorum prompltly sits down, usually on their hands, making no noise whatsover.

I've been to football games in Bozo, and their students are a little worse, but wouldn't you be if you had to follow the Griz, not lead?? Never been to a BBall game, but I've watched some on TV, as well as watch as many other games as I can. No MM7Cat, I don't hear chants at other games from student sections. One chant yesterday was from MD during the Duke game, and everytime Paulus got the ball, students just chanted "Paulus" over and over...and it sure seemed to work cuz he had a sub-par game and they lost by over 10 pts. WSU students, who I expected to be bad since they're on the rise and haven't been good in God knows how many years, even have showed class. Best example was during the Oregon game at home...couple of REALLY bad calls, fans still cheered their team after the loss.

You guys wanna see some poor sportsmanship? Go to Butte for a Carroll/Tech game, or a Butte/Flathead game. Talk about some of the worst fans. At Tech one year, students were throwing beer bottles at the Carroll fans. When Carroll went to the locker room at halftime they had to walk through Tech's tailgate area and police were there because one coach got hit by a beer can. Or, the most classless move I've EVER seen, was when Flathead beat Butte in 1st round of FB playoffs last year, so Butte shut the lights off on the visitor's side before the team or fans even had a chance to leave the field. Bozo's fans might be bad, but go watch the crap in Butte, might just change your perception. Sorry Hammer and Alpha, just no respect for Butte fans over there, hope you guys weren't a part of those going-ons I mentioned.

I just looked at last weeks MSU student newspaper and there was an article titled "CAT-GRIZ basketball - Bust Out Your Most Offensive T-Shirts." Seriously.

As much as I hate Bozeman and the Cats, students will be students. At this year's Griz football game at EWU, the student section was chanting at the Griz fans, "you've got aids, you've got aids" and "HIV, HIV" when we walked in front of them before the game. I had my 5 year old nephew on my shoulders at the time. I'm sure Griz students can be just as bad as MSU and EWU's. We were all young and dumb at one time. Mike Chavez showed class tonight by not letting it get to him and not saying anything back.
By the way, if anyone can explain the HIV thing at EWU I love to hear it.

oooh... karma can be such a pain...

I havent a link, but there's a running story on CNN HN that an HIV positive female prostitute had unprotected sex with as many as ten partners on the EWU campus. Story also goes that these are 'popular' students. In other words, the fellas that get a lot of action.

As I said, no link. But I'm sure it'll be posted somewhere soon.

The Griz win and their fans are still crying and complaining. Yes, there are no cheese and crackers at our games and yes, most people stand.

:crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby: There get it over with.

The fact is, MSU has a student section that is rowdy and supports our team. WAY TO GO BLUE CREW! Griz fans have obviously not seen any BIG TIME RIVALRY BBALL games if they are complaining about MSU students being too harsh. WOW! :beer2:

Do you ever get sick of you the fizz kicking the Cats ass? Seriously...

This I'm all for. I just don't consider saying "F___ the Griz" supporting your team. I would hazard a guess that MSU's student-athletes would agree.

Of course I don't condone what you said happened after the Kalispell game, but I would venture a guess that it was a complete accident in that the electrical panels are in the mechanical room under the stadium seats on the home side and the guy that shut them down probably had no clue that there were folks still on the field. As for Tech Carroll, I have been to so few games up there because they usually conflict with Griz games but that was very unfortunate if it happened, the majority of people in Butte are very good sports, among the best in the state in my opinion.

Apparently they don't support MSU very much. Attendance has been abysmal at MSU this year. Only 3,000 per game. MSU even had some attractive home games against Oregon St. and Fresno, but managed just 2,400 and 2,600 for those two games. Pretty pathetic support for those games.

There are two ways to approach a response to all this. I could get defensive, or be rational. I'm feeling good today, I'll be nice.

First off, hats off to the Griz - they outplayed us. Our defense was suspect (unusual for us this year - good job Tinkle), and we couldn't ever get into a consistent rythym.

No I don't condone the vulgar chants and attitude displayed by the students. But I'm not necessarily embarassed by it. They are kids, and they don't have to be classy/mature till later in life. I know once I graduate (IF), I won't be tailgating 3 hours before game, stumble into the game and yell every chance I get at anything that doesn't go the Cats way. I'll still probably be buzzed and ready to yell, but it will be at the appropriate times. ;)

College is your last time to be a complete ****head and get away with it (besides old geezers criticizing your every action on a message board). You can't blame kids for taking full advantage of that.

It is unfortunate that little kids are subjected to this, and there really is no way to get around that, because I don't think students will stop being students anytime soon. It is also unfortunate that because some kids chant DUI, or anything else, that you would skip out on a beautiful town with a lot to offer besides sporting events.

Frankly, and this pains me to say, if you want MSU to tone it down, let us win more. I will say the rivalry has simmered down since 2002 when the streak finally ended, but Cat fans are still much more bitter overall. Now a basketball streak is starting up and it isn't helping things.

Hmmm, I think I'll just go ahead and listen to "F___ the Griz". But thanks for the offer! :thumb:

 ha! if that doesn't about sum it up. this is a heated rivalry...hello....what do you expect? if you want to hang out with a bunch of smiling, happy, polite, mature, people----go to church on sunday. i love it when the opposing teams fans rip on my team, cuz it raises the bar. i don't want every team to be a bunch of smiles and hugs. a little extra emotion a few times a year is good for ya.
