Another nice game by Stu Mayes. Kyle Sharp also stepped up and played a fine game as did Chavez. Did anyone else notice how quickly Tinkle re-inserted Mayes and Ellis late in the second half after things started to go downhill after they came out? Tinks now 2-0 against the cats! This guy is going to be alright! :clap: p.s.-Dlouhy and Hasquet also played well and within themselves. This was a real team victory!

How many points did Chavy end up with? That no-look pass was sweet -- it seemed to really get the team going.

I thought it was a really good game. Both teams made some big plays, really big plays. Cat's hit some great shots. Durham had another good game against the Griz. Dissley had a monster jam. But the Griz ANSWERED. Everytime the Cat's made a play in the second half, the Griz came right back with a big play of their own, and did it without their Big Man, Straight. Hope he's back soon.

I just told a reporter that if someone gets a DUI they could be taunted for that but chanting "DUI" as the only somewhat creative thing you can come up with is pretty worthless. Seriously, we do the same but we mix it up and spread out the harshness. We don't tell someone to grab a beer or yell "heeee's traaaaashed" when he's at the free throw line. Bring up the DUI but don't call someone drunk and get dangerously close to some real racism. Seriously, don't try to get in an argument over which fans are better. You can't win that one.

We chanted more than "DUI" so it's not the only thing we could come up with. There are only so many things a fan can do so don't make it sound like we have all the resources in the world to use. The only reason I wouldn't win that argument over fans is because it is on this board. There's a reason I rarely post here anymore.

If what you said is the worst thing that was said then we can't complain because I heard rqacial slurs when JR Camel played in bozeman. Anyway, the cats played hard, just got beat by the better team tonight, simple as that. It was a clean game, well officiated, and a nice atmosphere. Thankfully the Griz took the crowd out of it for most of the game.

At this year's Griz football game at EWU, the student section was chanting at the Griz fans, "you've got aids, you've got aids" and "HIV, HIV" when we walked in front of them before the game. I had my 5 year old nephew on my shoulders at the time. I'm sure Griz students can be just as bad as MSU and EWU's. We were all young and dumb at one time. Mike Chavez showed class tonight by not letting it get to him and not saying anything back.
By the way, if anyone can explain the HIV thing at EWU I love to hear it.

The 'aids' thing might just be some kind of twisted logic allegorically rendered in recognition of a number of I-A transfers that the Griz had 'aiding' them in their constant winning of the BSC Championship. Jealousy sometimes brings out the worst of some people.

While it may not fall under the category of sportsmanship, most athletes/coaches that are convicted of a DUI hear the "DUI" chant. KU fans were chanting "DUI" at Bob Huggins when they played K-State last weekend. Huggins got a DUI in 2004 and he's still hearing about it. There was also a 2 page color layout in the KU student newspaper that had a picture of Huggins behind bars with a headline of "Hugs and Thugs". Griz fans would do the same thing if the roles were reversed. Classless fans can be found on both sides of this rivalry. Anybody who thinks otherwise is a complete idiot... :beer2:

Defense and defensive intensity was very good. Boxing and rebounding were good.

Interestingly, JJ during the television broadcast stated that..."it was well known with the coaches in the BSC that the Griz have a weak half-court defense."

kudos to sharp. maybe this was the breakout game from him that we've all been waiting for. remember, we found out how good strait was when he had to sub in for kamaar during the latter's academic problems. tonight sharp shows his stuff subbing in for strait. i've always thought sharp and swift would mature into good players for us.
