He is just under 6’ and 185, the listed stats were from his Freshman year. I see he was also just selected to the East/West Shrine game in June.
He’s 6’ and 160 lbs. He needs to put weight on. Just like they did with Capser. I understand from the team that Capser put 15-20 lbs on since he reported. Coach Hauck loves to let these kids mature a year and put muscle weight on them. I understand Capser hit the weights very hard during his ACL recovery. My son went through it 2 years ago. Capser will be kicking next year, unless they bring a grad transfer in for another season, but the speculation on the team is he crushes the ball and will be the heir kicker. I know Patrick well and he will probably redshirt and maybe be backup in the 2 deep at punter. They are already looking outside for a portal punter. I just don’t see Patrick starting at that position yet. Like Macias said to a few of us parents just before the JMU game, this is college and not high school. The timing to getting the kicks off is much faster and the rush is completely different. It takes time to get that right.
Also the East/West Shrine game is so political. Riley Bergeron from West High is one of the best players I have ever seen and he is an alternate. He is a Navy signed player for hell’s sake. The East doesn’t even roster a kicker or punter and lists them as backup. It’s very strange and cannot be used as a serious gauge to anything.
