Brian Buschini in transfer portal

I would expect Bobby to bring in an older k/P as well but make no doubt of Rohrbach’s ability at any kicking duty.
He is just under 6’ and 185, the listed stats were from his Freshman year. I see he was also just selected to the East/West Shrine game in June.

He’s 6’ and 160 lbs. He needs to put weight on. Just like they did with Capser. I understand from the team that Capser put 15-20 lbs on since he reported. Coach Hauck loves to let these kids mature a year and put muscle weight on them. I understand Capser hit the weights very hard during his ACL recovery. My son went through it 2 years ago. Capser will be kicking next year, unless they bring a grad transfer in for another season, but the speculation on the team is he crushes the ball and will be the heir kicker. I know Patrick well and he will probably redshirt and maybe be backup in the 2 deep at punter. They are already looking outside for a portal punter. I just don’t see Patrick starting at that position yet. Like Macias said to a few of us parents just before the JMU game, this is college and not high school. The timing to getting the kicks off is much faster and the rush is completely different. It takes time to get that right.

Also the East/West Shrine game is so political. Riley Bergeron from West High is one of the best players I have ever seen and he is an alternate. He is a Navy signed player for hell’s sake. The East doesn’t even roster a kicker or punter and lists them as backup. It’s very strange and cannot be used as a serious gauge to anything.

…. You can tell BH is pissed. ….

I thought that was really interesting - Bobby’s tone when talking about Toure’s transfer before this season was quite a bit different. Though, if I remember right, Toure had already graduated. I feel like I remember hearing Bobby say something along the lines of Toure not really owing anything to the University since he graduated and was looking to improve himself / do what was best for him.

I could be wrong in that though.

The difference may have to do also that everything seemed on the up and up on the Toure departure and he did not rag the UM program on the way out. The Buschini departure has all the earmarks of a Nebraska recruiting prior to him even entering the portal. And suspicion that Toure was helping Nebraska connect the dots. Also Buschini acting like a spoiled child, ragging the program, on the way out.

Agreed there was a reason Bobby was….more irritable. I haven’t seen the ragging Buschini did, all I saw was the “thanks UM, I wanna win the Ray Guy” tweet.

I haven’t read 96% of this, but what kind of odds would we have placed in August of there being a 13 page thread about a punter transferring?

You remember when we lost the freshman all American qb after spring ball? I’m starting to wonder if BH just doesn’t know how to play the right mind games with these guys to keep them around. That should have never happened. He should have named him the starter after spring ball. Problem solved, should have kept ego in check to keep Buschini on the team. He has got to manage egos and not let his get in the way. Look what’s happening at Wyoming they say the exodus is because of Bohl’s old school hard ass. Times have changed parents seem to be more involved then ever and the portal empowers the players so maybe we need an in house social worker to monitor and advise the staff on how to best motivate and keep the talent around rather then trigger them to transfer. Lol

I am not sure if your comments are tongue in cheek or serious. What a damn challenge. Coaches now have to risk losing half their team because of favoritism and treating some kids as though they are above the rest of the team. Talk about a toxic environment. Hauck already has this issue with his own kid on the team. A lot of friction there and I don’t envy his or any coaches position right now. You are absolutely correct about the portal and it is changing the game right before our eyes. What happened at Hawaii is pretty wild. Going to be interesting to watch things go down and how the portal impacts certain teams.

If you mean Gretch Jensen, you have to be kidding or it truly exposes your ignorance. Sneed beat him out decisively in spring ball and the coach's choice significantly benefited our program for the next two years. Prima Donna Jensen was unable to hold down a starting job elsewhere and never produced after leaving UM.

The friction is on eGriz; I've seen no evidence there is friction on the team. He earns his spot every game.

If you watched that spring game, you had to notice that the entire team was engaged in cheering on the guys on the field. Except for one guy. Jensen. He separated himself from the guys on the sideline and showed no interest in what was happening on the field. Good-by Gresh.

I wonder how many future grizzlie recruits buschini has talked to and told them of his experience and what he thinks of hauck and how he runs the program

If you don't think he saying privately to some of them as to what he said on Twitter, you have your head in the sand.

Might make some future recruits think twice.

I believe you. I bet you think about it a lot. Late nights posting on Native hate blogs, thinking about former UM punters, alone, in an apartment, where real property costs $12/acre, eating Fig Newtons by the sleeve. I can see it.

Yeah, I'm sure QB, RB, WR, LB, OL, DL, DB recruits seek out a disgruntled punter for advice. A punter would naturally be top of their list.

Well, of course.

You could light up a drive-in movie screen with all that projection.

He’s not the first player to want retroactive scholarship money, wouldn’t be the first to get it either.

Had this been handled better by everybody, and that includes Hauck, kid might still be here.

Pretty sure Hauck had no heads-up that he was entering the portal and within an hour or so getting a full ride offer from Nebraska. Then 24 hrs later committing to that Nebraska offer.

Please enlighten me how Hauck could have handled this better? I was informed by my son this evening that many in the locker room knew Brian was unhappy and looking other places and an outside organization was helping him. I assume this “One on One Kicking” is who helped facilitate this move, because he specifically gave them a shout-out in his Tweet dragging on the Griz coaches and organization.

This is football folks! This isn’t HS knitting class. Very few FBS programs have a dedicated coach for punter and kickers. What kind of extra support did Brian deserve? I know Brian and his father well, but damn this couldn’t have been handled better by Brian. No more excuses! Do not blame the coaches or program. My son is happy as hell to be playing for Hauck and will bleed for him every single day, just like 99% of this team.

As I said earlier, don’t be this guy, Brian.

On one hand you say that many in the locker room knew buschini was unhappy and looking at other places and an outside organization was helping him.

Than previously you said coach bobby had no heads up as to buschini entering the portal

considering haucks kid is in the locker room with buschini hearing at least some of buschinis' issues, how couldn't coach bobby be aware of these things....unless some of what buschini is saying is true.

You're trying so hard, but don't worry, I'm sure your fantasies will come true eventually.
